Car boot finds: a small fliptop wastebin (required for my B&B bathroom) £1.50; 2 very pretty flower prints, frames £1.50; china salad bowl decorated with olives £1; 2 x jars of M&S free trade Sicilian blood orange marmalade with a year's best before date £1.

That was my £5 extravagance/victory for today!

Made a cricket buffet today, all on a very tight budget, all ( well most of it) was homemade, some it was homegrown. Went down in 10 seconds flat - cricketers are like locusts. But I felt great when everyone said they had enjoyed it.

My victory for today is.... keep smiling. Had not so good news at work, but decided this will not get me down. Instead I am thinking positive.

Today I have finally moved the overspill kitchen stuff out of the livingroom! Still have loads in the diningroom, but the livingroom is back to normal once more! Oh, and having had roast lamb (first time using new oven) I have wiped over the oven interior! Now that is a victory - I loathe cleaning the oven, but a quick wipe and it's good as new once more! That's obviously the answer - wipe it out every time! (I've been married 40 years at the end of this month, so you'd think I'd have worked that out yeras ago!)

Not sure how victorious this is, but it probably counts as one - Last weekend I baked triple chocolate brownies with boyfriend's help. This weekend I took some round to his for everyone, they all seemed to like them and his mum asked for the recipe.

    My victories for today were:

1.Using up part of a large bag of frozen cauliflower and making from scratch a rather tasty cheese sauce to go with it, for my tea.

    2. Not stressing when one of my mums dogs that i doggy-sitting decided to puke in various places around the living room and kitchen...instead, i got out the kitchen roll and cleaned up what i could and then plugged in the polti steamer mop thing that mum gave me last week. I cleaned and debugged in just a few minutes. Dog is fine now, she just ate ratehr too many veggies out of my back garden!

    3. Sorted out the recycling.

    4. Advertised some pepper plants on Freecycle and had some responses just an hour or so afterwards.

    5. Watered my garden.

    6. Watched Rafa win the mens final. YAY!!!
