Victory of the day

Today's victory - got breadmaker out from the cupboard where it has been gathering dust for far too many years. Made gorgeous basic white loaf - priced it at 62p compared with my usual brand which is £1.19.
Even better, without skimmed milk powder, my next loaf will cost 42p and I'll see how many more pennies I can shave off this.0 -
30 bottles of home brew have arrived at my door. Apparently nagging your friends for two years to take up your hobby eventually pays off. Or at least you break even!0

My victory today was dragging myself out to Asda. I've been needing to go shopping for nearly a week, but have been putting it off and putting it off. I could have gone for another week but I have a young person with me in supported lodgings and, well, I do receive some money for looking after him, so I decided I'd better go and buy him some cereal and milk at least :rotfl: Bless him, he hasn't complained and he has eaten every scratch meal I have put in front of him in the last week.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

The kids are away, just us and Dgs. We are having a lovely week. Peaceful and cheap :j:j:j went to Mr T and got a few bargains. Ds came for lunch, french bread and corned beef. All in all a day of cuddles and laughter.
Dh finally been referred to a psychologist to help with his depression - now that was a victory - no drugs to add to his growing list.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
My victories for today....had a really good appointment with the doctor...my regular doc is away and i was booked in to see another doctor...but she was sick, so yet another doctor stood in for her. Anyway, she really knew what she was doing, she said 'you need to see a rheumatologist!' and instantly recorded a message to be typed up on a letter to the rheumatalogy dept. That is a big deal for me. I've had increasingly debilitating illness for the past ten years when i was rushed into hospital with sceptacemia, pneumonia and suspected meningitus...never been right since and i've had MRI's and seen neurologists etc but neer had a definitive diagnosis though it is suspected fibromyalgia/polymyalgia (though MS has been mentioned). I also have a chronic lung condition (severe asthma), high blood pressure , chronic pain, depression and borderline diabetes blah blah blah.... so i can't express how happy i am about this. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but i can;t help but think that maybe at last we are on the right track! Here's hoping!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Made some gooseberry jam yesterday. Shan't be buying any more jellies or jams!0

Another one for jam here although not as good as homemade gooseberry
.
Six 2lb jars of Hartley's Ma Made marmalade for 47p per jar - compared with £1.35 for Hartley's normal marmalade, I'd say that's a victory. Next step is to source cheap fruit and have a go at jam from scratch.
Also second loaf in my breadmaker minus the skimmed milk powder (we can't taste any difference) was 42p. If I use normal quick yeast instead of the individual packets that'll come down to 32p per loaf.
I so love these little victories :rotfl:. Just need to keep eye on leccy bill.0 -
I have 2 victories to share, I managed to go to a debt advice charity ON MY OWN this week. They were so helpful and friendly. Even though the situation is pretty dire they think an IVA will be our best course of action in dealing with 74K of debt. 2nd victory was in convincing hubby that things really are that bad and he agrees we need to do something.
Its a step in the right direction!!0 -
attacked the front garden and did lots
even started the back garden too
used to have a gardener until he put his prices up this year and this is the first time I've really gone out and done it0 -
Fingers crossed and wood to be touched for my DS and DIL that they get the part-ex on their house for a new home and they both like it and all goes well. The victory bit is the developer made them a fair offer for their house yesterday but we need your powerful positivity behind them for the bank and mortgage bit!!!
Thank you all so much.x:hello:0
