Victory of the day

went to see a dear friend, recently widowed and struggling with life. Last week someone tried to break in her house and did a great deal of damage in the process. She is fiercely independant because her family are no help so she got used to doing it herself. Now she needs a secure fence building at the side of the house and she is going to let my Ds and Sil build and she just pays for the wood. Now I know she is going to feel better. She was quoted 1000 pounds to have one put up, Dh thinks it will cost less than 250 for the wood etc. Thats my victory.Clearing the junk to travel light

Any day when I actually stay indoors and do some housework (dusting, cleaning or vacuuming) is a major victory for me because whenever the sun is shining I'd prefer to be outside pottering in the garden. Consequently the house is usually a tip during the summer. As far as possible, I save the cleaning and tidying up for cold and rainy days when I can't be outside. I'm obviously following in my dad's footsteps. He used to have his "grumpy" days when it was raining. He would sit in his armchair, write all his complaint letters and pay his bills. If the sun was shining, he'd be outdoors and the bills would have to wait!0

I don't like non stick bakeware, and have longed for some traditional tin plate bread tins/baking sheets for ages now. I managed to get a couple of tinplate flan dishes a couple of years ago, but apart from those big roasting tins that you see in supermarkets at Christmas time, I've seen nothing else since.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I spotted some baking sheets in Wilkinsons, so bought two. Then today I went into a little local shop, and low and behold, they had bread tins :j
I also found a 8" cake tin in the same shop, so grabbed one of those too.
After a couple of years looking, it was definitely a victory for me today0
