I like this thread too :) I feel like I've scored a victory sometimes and would feel a bit sad mentioning it to pretty much anyone I know - my victory today is that I found a great jacket for my little girl in a charity shop, that would have cost about £30 new - got it barely worn for £2.99 and it looks fab on her. I think of OS pleasures as being enjoyment and appreciation of things that come free or nearly-free :)

Thought to keep our spirits up and support each other I would start a new thread focusing on tiny victories (or big ones). Anything you like thats positive, things you have found, acheived or made. The thread made fade into insignificance by Friday but hey at least I tried.

We can give each other :j:T:rotfl::beer: or just a well done.

    So start us off guys........

Fab thread idea Ginnyknit . . . . unfortuantely the board police think otherwise! I think that victories are different to Pleasures so I am a bit sad that this thread is getting moved.

Todays victory has been that DH has managed ( with a few basic tools and zero skills) to neatly reroof the big shed and the dog run out of one roll of roofing felt - prolonging the life of both for at least another 5 years.

charlies-aunt, I really don't think there was any need for that comment.

As so many of you seem to feel strongly that this would be better left as a separate thread then I won't merge it with the pleasures thread. Wishing you all lots of victories. :)

Great idea for a thread and I agree that a Victory is definitely different from a Pleasure, also the 5 OS pleasures thread is huge now over 200 pages, personally I feel I should read all the posts when I'm going to post myself, I get put off by huge threads as I don't always have the time to read back 100's of pages, so thanks for leaving this new thread to grow Pink Winged. I much prefer to get involved with something from the start and share them as they happen rather than second hand weeks or days after its happened and things have moved on for the OP's IYSWIM.

I had two victories yesterday, my Dad is moving house today, Mum died several years ago and it's the only 'home' I've ever known besides my own. So I said my goodbyes yesterday and let go a lot of grief and felt loads better for it, so a huge victory there, although things won't be the same, I've accepted life moves on, not bad for a 40 somethingdance4.gif

I also finished putting together a stand at a garden show for a charity that I work with, it's been loads of work and it felt like it was never going to come together, but putting the last plant in place and knowing that it was finally finished was a real victory for me, had a crappy couple of weeks on a personal level which made me feel like I didn't want to do anything, so getting to the end of that project was a real and shining victory for me. I went from this dash2.gifto thisyahoo.gif

Today's victory will be catching up with the cleaning and sitting down for a little while with some knitting and having some me time!

I think it was rather harsh too Pink, I'm glad you have decided not to merge it :T and i'm also sure that you would have decided the same thing if people had mentioned politely that they like the thread :) xx

Actually I thought it was a joke - not something to be taken personally. My physio is known as a physio-terrorist - and she doesn't beget terror.... mmm..well actually she does.. in me anyway, but you know what I mean!

If a police officer's job is to protect a community by ensuring rules are followed and general order is maintained, and a forum I believe is a community, board guides are policing the forum.

It just shows how we all read the same words and see something different in them - worth remembering when posting.

I'm very glad this thread has been kept separate.

plumber needed access to the boiler which is in the airing cupboard
i emptied out the towels & bedding i keep in there
while he was in there he found sheets & pillow cases still in the packet:T

they came with a bed throw i had bought but i never used them
so i have lots of lush material to use to make other things:j
(i like fitted sheets and these are not)
but they are very unusual, so should make lots of nice things

i too am glad this thread is remaining seperate

but as a relative newbie, i am also grateful to the Mods who know the boards inside out and do merge threads where appropriate, as it has shown me lots of useful info i wouldnt have otherwise found

My victory is that we had a leak in the bathroom. After thinking at first it was coming from behind the wall behind the shower and dreading having to call out an expensive plumber, I crawled half under the bath :rotfl: for a wee nosey and found out that it came from a loose pipe that ran to the cold tap on the bath.
I have now tightened it and so far no leaks. :j

The aforementioned pond is a real old half barrel in the garden set flush with the ground (incredible how much soil had to be dug out!). Planted up now, and we have a frog - my excitement is probably slightly disproportionate, but I am very very happy - just the result I wanted - the wildlife half of my garden (garden is only about 10 metres square and is half wildlife half kitchen garden) is now really coming together - trees, logpile, tiny wildflower meadow sown and germinating and now the pond AND A FROG! One frog equals one victory!
