What a fabulous day it has been! Sun shone all day, daughter looked stunning, bridegroom looked stunned! She had bought a white satin corset top and embroidered scrolls and flowers over it in silver and white, with small crystal beads here and there. Then she had made a crinoline style net underskirt over which the main part of the skirt (white with a sparkle in it, edged in silver) wrapped and draped around it. Her hair, which is black and wavy, had odd strands coloured purple and 2 shades of blue, caught up at the back in a jewelled butterfly clip, and a silver tiara with turquoise coloured jewels in it. The overall effect was of a slightly Gothic-style princess, and being 5 foot 2 and very pale skinned it suited her. She had a couple of friends as bridesmaids, wearing knee length pleated Grecian style dresses in purple, and a little bridesmaid in pink. After the ceremony we went into the registry office garden to do the photos then to a pub down the road for a sit down meal.
My dad was very proud as he gave her away, and my son was very smart in his silver and black waistcoat and tie. Needless to say, once the photos were done, off came the tie and waistcoat and the shirt got unbuttoned to reveal a white tee shirt underneath - more his style than getting ponced up!
Since Dad arrived yesterday OH has been the model husband and host, helping me cook the evening meal yesterday, cooking breakfast for us all today. He did moan a bit because we missed the homeward train and ended up getting back a bit later than planned, but he seems to have got over that now. Tomorrow dad is going to lunch with my son-in-law's family, then to an evening booze up at the rugby club. I and OH will share the taxi service bit, ferrying him here and there. Then Sunday we will go to a local hotel for Sunday lunch before Dad catches the train home in the afternoon.
If OH decides to be in a mood once Dad is out of the way then it doesn't matter because I saw my girl married, and it was a fabulous day all round. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Oh Nargle - your daughter must have looked magical - you described her dress so well, I could see it in such detail - you and your Dad must have been so proud of her, an your son too, in all his finery.
To see your daughter get married and your father to give her away will live with you forever - such memories are unique and precious - hold them close
Make the most of your time with your Dad now before he goes back home and we will be thinking of you next week ((hugs))
