Delighted you had a lovely day Nargle.

Your daughter must have been so pleased you and her brother were there for her to share in one of the most important days of her life. No doubt she looked beautiful, her dress sounds gorgeous and very individual.

Enjoy the rest of your time with your Dad, as 3Dogs says we will all be thinking about you next week.

Cheers everyone! A daughter's wedding is a very special occasion and I would not have missed it for the world. Am enjoying the rest of the weekend and will see what next week brings when it brings it, if you see what I mean!

Wel, Dad left this afternoon and his train should have got in to Peterborough about ten minutes ago. He said he would wait for the next Rail Link bus rather than call someone out to pick him up, so it will probably be gone half past six by the time he gets home. He had a great time the past few days, it has been a lovely break for him - my stepmother is not in the best of health, so he spends a lot of his time caring for her. We have told him he needs to have a few days break every now and then to recharge his batteries, so hopefully he will be back up here before too long. I have checked my finances, and this week has been an expensive week so it is tighten all the belts time for the next 3 weeks or so till I get paid again. OH seems to be ok at present, and things are calm. I got some of the photos back that I took at the wedding, the best shot of her in her dress was spoilt by the fact I chopped the top of her head off! There are some lovely shots of her and her brother though, worth blowing up and framing. Can't wait to get back to work and show my friends there my two fabulous kids. I am on annual leave for the next week so will be able to chill out and get caught up on things. Better do some meal planning though, utilising all the stuff that is in the cupboards and freezer. At least the bills are up to date.

I think my daughter's wedding was held on MSE principles. Registry office do, outfit made by the bride herself, hair, makeup and flowers with the help of friends, the bridal car was a bit of an old banger (owned by a student so what else?) with bunches of flowers stuck over the bonnet with Sellotape -( but it looked brilliant!), pub lunch afterwards, selection of music for all tastes (we were all asked beforehand for a favourite song) gifts for the guests comprising a box (hand made by bride and friends) for everyone containing a few sweets, a packet of flower seeds, a lottery ticket and a small gift (mine was a lip gloss).....and it all went smoothly and to schedule with no stress. Daughter works in a hotel and they gave her and her bridegroom a room for the night free of charge....all very MSE but probably just as enjoyable than one of these weddings where many thousands of pounds change hands.

Love the wedding Nargle, your daughter and her new husband no doubt enjoyed the whole day much more because they had organised and thought of all the details themselves - much more personal. It just goes to show that you don't have to spend thousands to have a lovely day.

Hope your Dad got home OK.

Dad home ok, thoroughly enjoyed his stay. He is nagging me to make sure I keep in touch with my daughter and don't let OH have his own way all the time - point taken, Dad!

Well. OH is at work - his own car would not start so he had to take mine - just as well I was not planning to go anywhere. Son is at school by now. Having a quick mooch on here before getting some breakfast and getting down to the jobs for the day. I will have to do some serious meal planning as my bank account has taken a huge battering (wedding, guest staying, taxing the car at £180 a go.....also son's music lessons bill now paid at £56 a term....) At least the music bill and car tax were budgeted for, but I really must tighten up my finances as OH is a bit of a spendthrift - an ebayoholic for sure! He put a bid in for some steamer chairs, nice but would we ever use them? Fortunately he lost the bid. So some serious MSE work to be done for the rest of this month!
