What did you get for your son or daughter's 21st birthday?

I was going to suggest golf club head covers - anything else golf related is personal choice and a waste of money unless they have specifically asked for it.
I see you went with the money....
I'd put a wee memory card/stick in there with a scan of all the family pictures since he was small.
Photos are a long term reminder of his 21 years so far...Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I got my daughter a parachute jump for her 21st, she was reassured that if she felt nerveous about it at all, it would not go to waste, as i would have done it myself, unfortunately she loved it and i missed out.0

Can we have a photo of the finished 'teams' please? :rotfl:
Not the best of pictures but it will give you an idea. The frame looks black here but it's actually a brown tortoishell effect which went quite well with the brown of the notes, lol.
After taking the pic, I spotted a few collars that weren't sitting right and the A Team sticker wasn't stuck down properly so I fixed those but didn't take another picture, so bear in mind this one was the work in practice. :rotfl:
The original idea was to use a larger frame and have green card as the backing and draw out the pitch markings. I was then going to place the shirts randomly over the pitch. However the card I had was only A4 size and I had to join several sheets together. I also didn't have anything white to hand other than sticky labels, to make the pitch markings and once I'd cut the labels into thin strips, it all just looked very 'Blue Peterish' so I gave up on that idea.
All this happened on the spur of the moment and within the space of half an hour or so. If I'd thought about it earlier I would have been more prepared and might have gone with the pitch idea if I'd got better materials to do it. As it was, this looked the better option with what I had to hand.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I think that's brilliant, and if I were you son I'd keep it on the wall! :rotfl:
Of course it looks more distinctive because of those funny bank notes you've used - ours are purple both sides so the distinction would be less.
If DS1 or 2 had ANY interest in team games of any kind, I'd pinch the idea. As it is it may have to wait for DS3, 'cos he likes cricket. But I know he'd only spend it so not sure I can cope with all that work for nothing ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
how about a gold bar? you can get them from 1g upwards. 10g bar is about 330 quid and looks quite cool. Sovereigns are about 220 and about 8g of gold. I would love a 1oz bar (about 31g) but they are about 900 quid!0

That looks amazing, i bet he'll be thrilled, how did you get the collars right?0 -
Thanks jess. The collars lay better if the folds were made really sharply. Most notes were ok but as some weren't as new as I'd have liked, they already had their own creases and folds to start with which didn't help matters. Hence bringing out the iron.Herman - MP for all!0

That looks great.
*wonders how many other readers of this have had a go*
