We got him a plasma at Xmas because we had one of those elusive Comet money off codes and got it cheap. He had just moved in with his girlfriend so it was a part Xmas gift and a part housewarming gift.
That's a good idea about the shirt, I think he'd have liked that. Probably far too late to order now though.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Cufflinks are the most obvious jewelrey type gift for a man, and something his gf can't use! Even if he doesn't wear shirts all the time it is nice to have a pair for special occasions. You could get him a really nice shirt to go with them! Is also something you can engrave if you need to.
i'm female and own a couple of pairs of cufflinks. some women's shirts have cuffs that need links. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
My sister and I both had gold watches for our 21st, she's in her 40s, and I'm coming up for 40 and we both still wear them.
I'd steer clear from any techy stuff if you want it to be something to "keep", everything becomes outdated so quickly0 -
I haven't had a chance to read the replies, but my parents paid for myself and my then boyfriend to go up in a hot air balloon.
Great fun0 -
I can't remember what we bought DS1, he's dreadful for saying what he wants, and DS2 (coming up to 21) is no better. DS3, to make up for it, usually has ridiculous lists with far too many expensive things on, so no problem there! :rotfl:
However, their godfather buys one last 'good' present, and so far it's a set of 4 framed Escher prints, because DS1 was pleased with them and DS2 can't think of anything better.
So, something (other than a TV) to hang on the wall?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

It's back to the Philistine thing again SS, that kind of thing would be wasted on him.
I spoke to him again last night and he's about as much help as a chocolate watch. I told him if he didn't pick something in particular then he'll end up with a parental lucky dip present.
I would normally just give him something without actually asking him but the gap between his taste and my taste is ever increasing with each passing year and I would like his 21st present to be one he's genuinely pleased with, rather than one he's humouring his Mother about.
Btw, the balloon trip option came up when we were in Florida on holiday and his face drained of all colour at the thought. Bless, he does have some of my genes after all. :rotfl:
I think the golf bag is going to be 'it' now. It's not the kind of thing you can keep like a watch or a sovereign etc but it's what he would like so fair enough. Needless to say, the ones he's been eyeing up are not cheap. I could easily get a whole set of clubs for the price of one of the bags alone but I clearly know nothing about quality when it comes to golf related items. *insert rolling eye smilie*
Really appreciate all your suggestions, I've earmarked a few for future use.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Instead of a golf bag, do you know of any courses that he really wants to play?
Golf bags don't last long, no matter how much they cost  but he would have the memories of playing a certain course.
Or, Footjoy do golf shoes that you can get personalised....again they don't last forever but might last longer than a bag if cared for.....have a look at their site.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Doesn't have to be Escher - if he takes good photos one of them blown up onto canvas could be good? Would never accuse you of Philistinism, my own are pretty pig ignorant of 'culture'!Signature removed for peace of mind0

I gave my daughter a holiday to Dominican Republic, a gold necklace with a diamond and a birthday party for about 60-70 friends and family. Well she is only 21 once! :cool:0
