It sure seems like it sometimes, doesn't it, jwil?! How frustrating when something goes your way and then something else just comes against you. Guess the thing to remember is that if you hadn't sold anything on ebay then your printer would probably still have broken soon - but you wouldn't have had any sales to cover the cost. It might not have been as urgent but at least you've made up the money to cover it xx

    Night night x

Thanks La Escocesa, it's very true, if I hadn't made all of the sales on ebay I would not have been able to get one at all, so it has made a difference.

Hope everything is going well with you. xx

Oh Jwil I know exactly how you feel , things like that happen to me all the time . So far this year we've had to buy a new fridge , tv and washing machine as they all broke . Each one seemed to come straight after the other so it makes the struggle to pay off debt even harder. Sometimes its one step forward one step back. I agree with La escocesa though , at least you had the money from what you sold so you aren't at a minus. At the start of my debt journey, if something had broken I'd have just put a new one on a credit card accruing more debt. My OH and I had two weeks off over the summer with no money and it rained constantly so I sympathise with you , I know how it feels and we did get down over it at times but it was better than feeling stressed because we knew we'd spent money we didn't have. I know you enjoy a good pootle around the house so just think you can do this to your hearts content while you are off. Maybe do some more sorting and selling. At least you and your OH can spend time together and sleep in. Try not to get too disheartened by the printer , you've been doing really well and you will get your moneys worth out of it. It so often does feel never ending but soon you'll get a statement that's lower than you thought or you'll hit another DF target and then you'll know the end is somewhere in sight and your hard work is paying off . Keep your chin up x

Hi lou, it really does seem like that doesn't it, everything seems to go wrong at once. At least these things are all new now, so they shouldn't go wrong again!

We will still have a nice couple of weeks, and hopefully will be able to go out for a couple of days anyway. DH gets paid after the first week, so he will pay me his half of the bills so I can 'borrow' that until I get paid so will have some money for the second week.

I'm feeling a bit better today, I've had a few really down days but I'm getting more positive again.

I haven't updated my totals recently, so I shall try and get things updated over the weekend.

I'm reading The Partner by John Grisham at the moment, as well as a BS Johnson omnibus from the list - the first book is Albert Angelo and I'm quite enjoying it actually. I like the Grisham books, as they tend to be fairly fast paced and keep my interest.

    What's everyone else reading?

Just heard that the govt are planning to privatise Royal Mail - best get on with the decluttering as I'm sure that means postal prices with go through the roof when they finally do it.

Hey jwil, glad to hear you're feeling more positive recently. I started back yoga last night (after 4 months of no classes!) and it was amazing the difference it made to my mood! Really noticed the difference when I got back home afterwards.

I've just finished A Place Called Here by Cecilia Ahern. Quite a nice little story, reads a bit like a fairytale - quite enjoyable if you don't think too much about it and just fall into it.

A bit unsure about what to start next - read the first chapter of The Water Horse, set during the Crimean War, so I'll see how that goes.

Not read any John Grisham books for a while but do enjoy them when I do read them. I think the BS Johnson one sounds like a bit of a hard slog for me:p

    Have a good weekend xx

    Hi jwil,

Have just found your diary - love the title since it would be so suitable for me as well :)

I am a booklover also (though I don't think I have ever had so many books stashed away as you have!). At the moment I am reading Shantaram by Gregory Roberts and I'm enjoying it immensely. At some point I may go through your 1001 list and see what I've read. At least 20 from glancing through the first 200.

I don't think I've ever read a Grisham, I've often meant to but always seem to choose something else instead. I tend to actively avoid chick-lit and sci-fi but apart from that, I'll give anything a go.:D These days I get all fiction books from charity shops/car boots/friends. Our village has turned its old red phone box into a mini-library, which is also a great source of free reading.

I'm very impressed with your ebaying efforts, must really get off my butt and follow your good example.

Hi peaceandfreedom, thanks for popping in! Good to see another book lover here. I have far too many books and am trying to reduce them, but I keep buying them!

I think there's a village around here somewhere which turned their phone box into a library - are you around the South West at all? I think it's a great idea!

Thanks for popping in Cazz, it really made my day! I shall definitely keep my eyes on the floor for some more!

Thanks La Escocesa, I saw this thread, but it won't let me download them :( It says because I am already a member of audible and have had a free book in the past I can't download them. I'm gutted as I love audiobooks and would have liked a few of them!
