I'm so pleased with that it's great. And best of all, I only bought two books, well done me :D:T:D

    Remarkable restraint :D

I have received a parcel of books in the post from a friend - woohoo I am lucky. My TBR pile is now 10 books high. :T

Well done on the car boot - am getting myself organised to do one this weekend I hope.

That is a nice parcel to receive, lucky you! Wow, I wish my TBR pile was just 10 books, I'd have so much space :rotfl:

Good luck with the car booting if you go this weekend, we went to one this morning and I didn't buy anything! :T

I haven't been on for a while as we went away for a few days up north with the van. We had the £1 camping vouchers which we collected from the Sun a while ago, and had a nice break. We did have to call the RAC out once for the van though, but it wasn't anything serious so that was good.

The van is not running very well at the moment, we think it needs tuning properly after having the new engine fitted. DH reckons we were getting about 14 miles to the gallon while we were away  That is not good, and means we spent a fortune on fuel . I love the van, but it seems to be a continual expense and is really frustrating. At the moment, all we seem to do is worry about if we are going to get where we are heading. I'm starting to think we should just get rid, but DH thinks we should try and get it to someone who really knows their stuff with old VWs and see if they can sort it for us. If anyone knows anyone in the Somerset/Dorset/Devon/Bristol areas, then please let me know!

I am hoping to have a quieter week this week, and maybe get on here a bit more to update properly.

Hope everyone is well, and their debtbusting is going better than mine :o

We have been down to Plymouth today to visit my BIL. That was nice. On the way home we stopped at a reclamation yard as we have a big pile of sandstone which was taken off a wall in the house (very attractive stonecladding:eek:) so we wanted to see if they would offer us anything for it. They weren't interested, and said it was probably worth £30-£40 per tonne. We probably don't have a tonne, so there doesn't seem any point in trying to do anything with it. We thought about just taking it to the tip, but it would be shameful to see all that lovely stone in landfill (the geologist in me speaking, as well as the hating waste) so we have decided we will keep it for now, and maybe build up a rockery with it in the garden.

You could always offer it on Freecycle - there's bound to be someone who'd love it and they would come and collect it and it'd be out of your way. Otherwise, it could end up sitting around in your back garden for years :)

I thought about offering it on Freecycle, as there is a good chance it will sit around in the back garden for years :o:D but I built a wall with it, so it is out of the way, and I think we can use it, but freecycle will always be an option if we don't get round to it!

Sold 3 books on amazon yesterday, woo hoo! That's around a tenner to the pot. I didn't think I'd sell them as it was three volumes of one book, and you can buy it in one volume, but someone has so I'm really pleased with that!

    Congrats :D

Is it easy to sell books on Amazon? I've got quite a few myself that I could probably sell. It'll hurt to do it, but I'm sure that my OH will be glad to get rid of some as he's the one that had to carry the boxes when we were moving lol :rotfl:

Yes, it's really easy - so quick to do. You just type in the barcode or isbn, add notes about the condition, and set your price. The fee structure is really complicated and I don't get it at all, but you always know how much you will get when it sells, so you just set your price to get what you want (including postage). You then just sit and wait for it to sell, and amazon email you when you've sold. You do have to ship within 2 days of the purchase date though, so you need to be relatively organised!

Popular books are often on there for 1p, so it's not worth adding those as you won't get enough for them. Green Metropolis can be a good alternative if you have popular books, though I've found it quite slow to sell things.

  • Hi jwil

Good on you keeping up with all the sales! I'm going to list something on ebay this weekend but haven't sold anything in a while :o Definitely going to look through my book shelves!

    xx
