Hi Skysky, good to see you back, glad you had a good holiday. How many books are there in the Percy Jackson series? I didn't realise there was more than one!

I really enjoyed the Twilight series - even though I found them really irritating and just wanted to shout at the characters - all the mooning over looks and that - but they are still strangely addictive!

Just read your diary jwil. I am going to study your book list when I have more time. I read Wuthering Heights again on holiday. What a read!
I really like you mortgage graph paper idea too. Going to do a graph for mine on Edexel i think.
VW Campervans- they are gorgeous arent they though. We are going to buy a trailer tent. Hopefully second hand and before next August. Fingers crossed.

Hi Isy, thanks for popping in! I think I might be the only person in the world who didn't like Wuthering Heights - I thought I'd love it, but I just didn't like the characters.

We do love our van (when it works!), but I think trailer tents are really handy too - we were looking at them a couple of years ago when we were at a camping shop. Good luck with getting one!

DH and I have been sorting out some more stuff this afternoon. A load has gone for booting, some for charity, and a load for some local children (notepaper and stationary for drawing on).

I haven't been on here much this weekend, I wasn't feeling too well yesterday and this morning, so this weekend has not been particularly productive. That's a shame, but at least we've got something done this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend!

I worked all day Sunday and didn't get in until ridiculous o'clock on Sunday night/Monday morning and had to get up after 5 hours sleep and get everybody back to work and school and then start a new job. I am not entirely sure how I managed it! Big problem though I have felt like sh*t ever since. I didn't eat very well and hardly drank any water and it was a really loud event and I have had a headache ever since. I have alternated ibuprofen and paracetamol every 2 hours to no avail so after two days I am hoping that after 2 days it will be gone when I wake up in the morning. I hate being back off holiday, I don't get as much time and spend far too much time on here and on my dog rescue forums - my reading goes out of the window.

Its also a sad state of affairs when I look out of the window and see the leaves starting to fall and notice that I have started getting a couple of christmas presents. I have my OHs and our daughters so just need to get her some stocking filler type things. It is definitely going to be a cheap and cheerful one this year.

After coming back off holiday, I still haven't been to a supermarket so the cupboards are soooooo bare. I am a dreadful mother and sent the little one off to school today with a jam sandwich, a packet of crisps and a rice cake as her packed lunch. I will probably get a letter home as I think the rice cake is the only part that is relatively healthy :o

And I am going to start keeping a spending diary as I don't know whether the amount I budget every month for groceries / dog food etc is even remotely close. Maybe I can incorporate it into my new diary that I am going to start

Hope you are feeling better today Skysky, that sounds like a really tough weekend.

I know what you mean about having no time when you are working, that's partly why I haven't been on here too much recently, I'm not getting anything done.

I'm sure your daughter will enjoy her lunch anyway - it sounds much nicer than a 'healthy' lunch!

Are you starting a diary on here? If so, let me know when you do and I'll pop over and say hi!

So fed up this morning. I sold a load more stuff on ebay over the weekend, and am so happy about that. Another load went out last night, and of course my printer started playing up. I went out and spent £22 on a new ink cartridge for it, as it was saying 'print cartridge error', but that hasn't worked. I've tried cleaning it and everything, but nothing is working.

So I went out this morning to buy a new printer on the way to work, thinking that I would just get one which used the same cartridges so it wouldn't be so bad. Turns out that no HP printer uses these cartridges now, so I had to spend £70 on a new printer :( I didn't go for the automatically cheapest one, as I would have had to buy ink, so I bought a kodak one which came with ink, and the ink cartridges are waaaayyyy cheaper so hopefully it will cost less in the long run. But it means I've also wasted the £20 on the printer ink as it's been opened now, so I can't return it.

Sods law most people paid up really quickly, so it was fairly urgent I get a new one as I print postage online most of the time, as I find it quite hard to get to the post office during the week. I can drop them off at the sorting office which is open longer hours.

So, the new printer has pretty much wiped out all of the sales on ebay, and I'm still skint for the rest of the month. We have 2 weeks off at the end of the month, and I have no money to do anything.

It really is neverending isn't it. :(

  • It sure seems like it sometimes, doesn't it, jwil?! How frustrating when something goes your way and then something else just comes against you. Guess the thing to remember is that if you hadn't sold anything on ebay then your printer would probably still have broken soon - but you wouldn't have had any sales to cover the cost. It might not have been as urgent but at least you've made up the money to cover it xx

    Night night x
  • Oh Jwil I know exactly how you feel , things like that happen to me all the time . So far this year we've had to buy a new fridge , tv and washing machine as they all broke . Each one seemed to come straight after the other so it makes the struggle to pay off debt even harder. Sometimes its one step forward one step back. I agree with La escocesa though , at least you had the money from what you sold so you aren't at a minus. At the start of my debt journey, if something had broken I'd have just put a new one on a credit card accruing more debt. My OH and I had two weeks off over the summer with no money and it rained constantly so I sympathise with you , I know how it feels and we did get down over it at times but it was better than feeling stressed because we knew we'd spent money we didn't have. I know you enjoy a good pootle around the house so just think you can do this to your hearts content while you are off. Maybe do some more sorting and selling. At least you and your OH can spend time together and sleep in. Try not to get too disheartened by the printer , you've been doing really well and you will get your moneys worth out of it. It so often does feel never ending but soon you'll get a statement that's lower than you thought or you'll hit another DF target and then you'll know the end is somewhere in sight and your hard work is paying off . Keep your chin up x
