Nice one!!! 12 things sold in one day. Good on you! :D

Thanks! I was really chuffed. Of the 67 items I put on yesterday, 4 already have bids! Two of them, I thought were just junk and a bit of tat, already have 4 bids each. It's made me nervous though as I obviously know nothing about them, and am paranoid I've misdescribed them or something (I've just copied what is on the packaging). I won't be happy until I've received feedback for them.

Does anyone else get paranoid when something sells for more than you expect? :rotfl:

I haven't done as well as I hoped with the decluttering, though the night is not over yet :rotfl: I'll update over the weekend, but I won't have made the 150 items. I am aiming for another 100 over the weekend, so will add the remainder to that target.

I must confess it is REALLY hard work decluttering magazines :D:D:D But once they are gone, it will be a LOT of space cleared!

Woo hoo! It's the weekend! I didn't get my 150 items done by last night, so I will add them onto this weekend's target of 100 items.

71 - 91 New Scientist mags - to boot sale
    92 - Magazine to recycling
    93 - Newspaper to recycling
94 - 103 Needlework kits sold on ebay and posted
104 - 105 - Books sold on ebay and posted
106 - Book, read and listed on amazon
    107 - Magazine - to recycling
108 - Book - read and listed on amazon.

So that was 108 items done, which means my target for this weekend is 142.

Thanks Amethyst, I haven't done brilliantly so far today, but having the target keeps me focussed! It also needs to be huge numbers as we've got huge amounts to get rid of.

I am soooo tired today. We got up at 5.30 to go booting, and unfortunately I seem to have bought some books! :o

Haven't done much decluttering, so am going to extend my target to Friday again, and try and get 150 items done by then plus the 42 that I was adding on already. So 192 items by Friday - can it be done???

Just thought I would pop in and say hi, I am a complete bookworm too. I can't go to a carboot and not buy books! The fact that I can buy something that will keep me entertained for sooo long for 20p is daft. I think I must be reading the wrong kinds of books though as I look into selling the ones that I have read, but they don't seem to be worth anything so I end up giving them back to the charity shop. Do you have a list of ones that you are missing off the 1001 - I may have some that I have already read?

What are you currently reading? I have just started reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, really enjoying it. This one probably won't take me too long as I think they are aimed at kids and so the text is quite spread out on the pages. I have the opposite taste to you when it comes to reading, so I would normally read crime, horror, sci fi, thriller and would never normally look at chick lit books but I am making a real effort to read different things. I have just finished reading a book called A Friend Called Henry which was all about a young boy with autism and his golden retriever.

On the debt front, I don't think I have ever owned up on here as to how much debt we are in, :o I am hugely paranoid that someone might come on here and recognise me and we struggle with this debt burden just the two of us and have not told any of our family (we don't have that many friends :rotfl:). I am on the long haul supporters club though :o Today hasn't been hugely successful as I have nothing in the cupboards as we are going away in our caravan on Tuesday and by the time I noticed there was nothing for tea, the shop was shut so we ended up with a takeaway - so £11.00 later and I am suitably stuffed. I didn't think that was too bad to feed three though.

Anyway, enough waffling! Keep up the good work!

Hi Skysky, thanks for popping in! Car boots are the best for getting books. It doesn't sound like our tastes are that different after all - I love crime, thrillers, horror (Stephen King is one of my faves ever), I don't really go for Sci Fi, but I have read a few and been pleasantly surprised! I do enjoy chick lit, but some of them I find annoying - it's something though that is a nice easy read.

I do find that a lot of books are not worth selling, though the ones on the list are often for sale for more on amazon, so I'll put those back on there. The rest I'll take to a boot sale and sell them for 50p each or 3 for a £1 - generally that's what I've paid for them so they are essentially 'free' :D. Every now and then we'll have a purge and the rest will go to charity.

At the moment, I'm reading 'The Making of Americans' by Gertrude Stein (off the list, not really enjoying it), Homo Faber by Max Frisch, (also off the list, but it's pretty good), and The Mill House by Susan Lewis which seems to be ok so far. I haven't read Percy Jackson, but I'm always up for a recommendation!

Are you on Facebook? I have all of the books I need on the list on my Virtual bookshelf, if you are and you want to know, PM me and I'll add you.

No one knows about my debt but me and DH. I changed my siggie as I found out someone I know comes on here a lot, and I think I am very recognisable from my posts. Here's hoping they don't find my diary lol :rotfl::wave: if you are lurking...:rotfl:

£11 is not bad for a takeaway for 3. Hope you have a great holiday!

Waffling is always good - I do enough of it myself!

Right, I am confusing myself with my decluttering list, as I am numbering it differently on here to my other list! So, the new official target is 300 items by Friday - that will be the running total of what I will have cleared by now. I shall update what I've done so far soon.

    Have a good evening everyone!

Always good to talk to a fellow Stephen King fan. I currently have his new one Under the Dome that I have packed in the caravan ready to go. I have also taken with me the 2nd Percy Jackson and a Martina Cole as well just in case I can't get into one for any reason! We are off for 10 days in the morning so I promise to check in with you when I come back from my holidays.

I loved the list and have copied and pasted it into word. I had only actually read about 5 off the list, but have heard of soooo many off there and so have decided to try and select some off there for my future reading.

Maybe you should do a post with the ones that you are missing in case I have any of them (well if any of my 5 are any good to you! :rotfl:).

I am on facebook - I have pm'd you. I think that virtual bookshelf sounds like something I may have looked at at some point or another on facebook.

Sometimes it is quite soul destroying when it is only me and OH that know about our debt, as he thinks its a man thing and therefore we don't need to talk about it, just deal with it. And when we are dealing with it, there is no need to keep talking about it - I can kind of see his logic but I get things done better when I keep that motivation going by talking about it.

I can honestly say that I have had my LBM and am not just playing at fighting debt, but find it really hard and easily find myself distracted and compulsive. Just yesterday I nearly convinced myself that our caravan was on her last legs and we would have to spend another £5,250 to get another one  The voice of reason kicked in luckily and now I sit here and think how easily I did get myself into debt when I make such rash decisions. We gave her a damn good cleaning on the inside and out, replaced a damp panel where we had a leak (I say "we" it is the royal we! :rotfl:) and she is good as new. Now just looking forward to heading off in the morning. Only thing is, not having any wi-fi I will not be able to MSE for 10 days - I will definitely be getting withdrawal symptoms!

    Keep up the good work!
