Cheers m'dear. I am hoping he gets fixed up soon, not least because having him knocking around the house all day is going to be too much (aren't I awful!).

Not awful no, it's hard when you are used to having your own space - especially when you are working from home.

I often work from home one day a week, and it was much harder earlier in the year when DH was signed off, as he was always around.

Do you not pay your heating by direct debit every month - we do this and so the lower bills in the summer compensate for the higher ones in the winter (says she hopefully!).

We used to pay DD at our old house, but for some reason they didn't transfer it over here, and I never set it up again. I actually prefer it this way as I'm paying for exactly what I use. When they had the DD, it never balanced out properly - they either gave us a refund or upped the DD. Now, I know roughly what I will pay, and the reduced payments in the summer months help a lot! I feel like I have much more control this way, and don't think I'll go back to DD.

I think I would prefer to have a monthly actual use payment though, rather than quarterly.

I've done a very long but fairly interesting (and repetitive) survey on energy price comparison sites. It was good for me as I had to get price comparisons on 9 different sites. I've never done this before so it was interesting to see the results. I'm obviously not on the best tariff, but we are using about 1/2 the rate suggested if you don't put in your actual use. So whilst I don't consider myself to be particularly frugal, we're obviously not too bad.

It earnt me a £5 amazon voucher too, so that's fab!

I've listed a load of stuff on ebay too. Some of it is quite painful as it is something I collect. I've put it on at a decent price though so will keep if they don't sell. I don't really want to sell them but needs must. They are items I bought at car boot sales to add to my collection rather than those which I went out and bought deliberately so it's not too bad.

Two nights this week I have come home from work and my DH has started putting up Xmas decorations:smileyhea It's always nice when he does something like that as he doesn't really *do* christmas, so I know it's all for me. (Though I think he secretly likes it too :D)

I'm starting to feel all festive now that the finances are all sorted for the month now. :xmastree::xmassign::xmastree::xmassign::xmastree:

Hi peace and freedom :) - Oh i know what you mean about someone else being around when you are used to having that time / space to yourself - so its an honest and not awful thing to say x

Nope no DD - in all truth i could not afford another DD and i don't even know if the bank would let me set a new one up  And even if i could afford it OH won't agree to it and i don't want to cover all this cost on my own - i have a vague memory of having a DD several years ago and when the bill came i said to OH right so you owe me half of this - his response was why do i need to pay for something thats already been paid for :eek::eek: Took me a while to get the money out of him - at first i'd thought he was joking and then realised he was serious :eek::eek: As in yes dear i've paid for it out of my money so you should pay halves to if you live here  (shared house by the way which he had chosen) Needless to say DD cancelled. i then got a refund of my overpayment and OH wanted some of that  Had to explain - countless times - he'd only paid half to the actual bill i got a refund as i'd paid more than was due. Gosh i'd almost forgotten about that!

I also agree with this jwil - it somehow seems easier paying these bigger bills in one go - although i'm clearly struggling this month :o

Urgh! Now feel like i've had a completely wasted day :( Had the day off work and had someone coming round to give me a quote for a job that needs doing. Missed out on a lie-in to get up early for this - got a text after they were nearly 2 hours late to say they'd be here soon - fine. Now had another update to say they're coming in the next 2hours  Basically i've waited in all day for them coming - i've not been able to get on with any of the things i wanted to do - baking - didn't want to be in the middle of it when they turned up :o couldn't go for a run or to the supermarket as i needed to be in for them - and you know when you know someones coming so you're waiting for them so you just can't relax? Thats the feeling i've had all day :( Bleurgh!

In other news - peaceandfreedom i hold you totally responsible :p I got one of those xmas cake mixes you mentioned :o Its different to the first one i got and as it was reduced to half price will make an amazing gift :j:j:j Thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it ;) Not to mention i love xmas cake and baking :D

Decorations ??? My OH also doesn't 'do' xmas so my beloved decorations are currently out of my reach and OH isn't helping. Next year i'll be able to get to them myself and put them up. For this year i've thought of getting one of those mini living xmas trees £3 - or is that just not the MSE way? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I agree though jwil - its lovely of Mr jwil to put the decs up for you :T:T:T

Men and money eh! All week this week, I've been telling DH that the mortgage money hasn't arrived and asking him to check it in his account. Today he gets his statement and says 'oh look, it's been rejected' does that mean I need to pay it again?' Oh well, money is now on it's way again.

We now know that it is due to my bank, so they shall duly be getting the complaint and I shall be asking them to remove the charge they are planning on adding, and pay any charge that is due to the loan (which thankfully has been successfully paid today).

I've had a flurry of ebay and amazon sales so am very pleased, especially with my amazon sales as there are some decent amounts in there.

A couple of my collection items that I put on ebay yesterday are selling *sob* and there's interest in a few of the others too. I also had a message from someone saying they couldn't bid. That's obviously because they do not fit in with my bidding criteria, which I assume means they have two NPB strikes against them. However, they have now set up a new account and bid on my item. Not sure whether to allow it or cancel their bid

Cancel it and block them. Sounds mean but it is an item that you like. It would be different if it was a normal low cost sell. Not worth the hassle. They could get it and say there was something wrong with it.

Well done on your sales and being on target for this months outgoings. Sorry you have had to sell some of your items but they are only things and you are on your way to a DEBT FREE LIFE :):):):):):):):)

    Take care Jwil

Thanks ebayqueen, I've decided to let them carry on bidding. They'd not left anyone any bad feedback or anything, so I've given them the benefit of the doubt this time. I won't hesitate to open the NPB case on day 4 though if they don't pay up promptly.

The item is not one of my collections, it's just a bundle of low value items. I have a suspicion that I could probably do better on them next year, but would rather they were gone. If the buyer does not pay up, I'll keep them until then.

It's a wrench selling some of the collection, but the reality is I have hundreds of them and so won't miss them when they are gone. I didn't really expect them to sell though, so it's all good really, and like you say, I'd rather be debt free!

I had my starter motor done and have reinsured my car so that's all done for another year now.

I've worked out that since mid-october, I have spent over £1000 on cars! no wonder I've been so skint! I haven't even had mine serviced yet, so that is definitely waiting for a while.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
