Hi DDFW - Yes, I'm still very busy. There's so much to get done between now and Christmas, I wonder if I'll have time to breathe. Still, it's good to be busy and I'm earning a nice wodge of money which is good because OH has now officially been made redundant.DedicatedDFW wrote: »jwil - well done on completing your assignment - i bet you've done better than you thinkHope they send you a bit more than the replacement part from the watch place too
Regarding the money your hubby transferred have the bank sorted out where the money has gone to yet? If they have not paid it to the right place then they should compensate you for your financial loss and affect on your credit file - i guess first of all its finding out where your money has gone and then who has made the mistake
Indeed, they should sort it out for you. If it's a regular payment then it can't be your DH's fault. This kind of problem is very stressful and it is one reason why you need a very quick-access savings account with the same bank so when an issue like this arises, you can temporarily transfer funds to cover the shortfall. Easier said than done I know, to have an emergency fund sitting there and not touch it but it does give great peace of mind. I know this is your aim Jwil for 2012 and we will be cheering you on. :beer:DedicatedDFW wrote: »Well done on your eb*y sales too :T:T:T i have a bid on 1 item of mine £30 - this ends in a few days and has been re-listed lots and lots so hoping this goes through smoothly as i really need the moneyAnd well done on listing some more things on eb*y - i've been trying to do that on and off for the last 2 days but as comp is playing up i can't get pics on
Hope you get it sorted, DDFW, and well done on the £20 bid. :TI sold something on ebay as well, a small profit but it's something else out of the house.DedicatedDFW wrote: »Well the beginnings of a cold that i've had for about 2weeks has developed a bit further and today i feel rotten _pale_ Still i've decided to ignore it as best i can and crack on with all the things i have to do today  I mean does this little bug not know that christmas is 21 days away? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope your bug goes away. I am feeling fairly organised for Christmas - two supermarket deliveries booked for Christmas week. One fairly major shopping trip planned for two weeks' time. Cash to spend and more money put aside in my bank account for pressies (you see, the upside of all this work is more money in the bank - it's going to be a totally credit-free Christmas - hooray for that).
Roll on Christmas, mince pies, Quality Street, a nice log fire and lots of lazy days. :xmastree::xmassign:0 -
I had not-a-great Saturday - you know the kind of day where you have a million things to do but can't quite summon up the energy to do any of them?
Sunday was better. I managed another coat of paint on the coffee table I am revamping, and I also completely cleared out the greenhouse, cleared away the last of the tomato plants, scrubbed it down inside and out and prepared a 'greenhouse within a greenhouse' bit to try to overwinter the chilli pepper plants and some tender flower plants. I also moved some parsley and rocket inside to see if they will continue to crop over the winter. Even went mad and sowed some winter lettuce seeds but I think it's far too late for them to produce. Still, it'll be interesting to see if any of them germinate.
Did a tiny bit more of my scarf I'm knitting, did some laundry and watched MOTD2 with my DS. Not a bad day. :T
DS (16) has got himself a supermarket job, is getting lots of extra hours and is earning a very nice bit of cash.
Today there is lots more to do, need to clean out the goldfish tank but will get on with paid work after that. Hoping to finally complete a project today which will be a load off my mind.0 -

I know what it can be like doing an OU course - sometimes it's hard to devote the time and effort especially when you have so much going on. I have a Honours Degree with the OU that I was awarded in 2009, so I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Hey and well done on the ebay sales - good stuff. :T
I've done (nearly) 2 degrees with the OU - the course next year will be the final course for my second one. It is hard work, but I'm so out of practice with it all.

Hope your car is not too costly - mine has cost me £200 in the last 2 weeks what with mot & repair costs- that money was supposed to be for the boiler - although i know i'd have had to pay for my mot regardless :undecided
Well done on your eb*y sales too :T:T:T i have a bid on 1 item of mine £30 - this ends in a few days and has been re-listed lots and lots so hoping this goes through smoothly as i really need the moneyAnd well done on listing some more things on eb*y - i've been trying to do that on and off for the last 2 days but as comp is playing up i can't get pics on

Hope you are feeling better today DDFW.
Aww, thank you so much for the BP gift, you've really made my day :A
Hope your computer stops playing up soon.
Still no money, and we haven't figured out what has happened to it yet. Need to get DH to chase that up . It's so frustrating especially as he pays it every month without problem!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

Well done on your sales as well DDFW and I hope you're over the worst with your cold. Looking on the bright side you should be okay for the Crimble season.
Congrats eBayQueen on your happy news. It does tend to blow the budget a bit out of the water tho :rotfl:
:T on your sealed pot Peace, not a bad sum of money to spend.
Apologies if I've missed anyone (old age is not all it's cracked up to be)
I've set my 'Pay off as much as you can' now although a lot of that will just go towards interest
My ebay sales are not going well, I've had watchers for the same thing two weeks running but not bids. Why does somebody watch something all week and then not bother
On thefront I got my £10 Christmas box from the Government today :j:j
Hey retired, that is so frustrating when you have watchers and no bids, it really bugs me. Also, when you have loads of watchers, so you hope you'll have a last minute flurry of bids, but it never happens.
Yay for £10 christmas boxes :j"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

Sorry to hear that your DH has officially been made redundant, I hope they stopped messing him around in the end. Glad you have lots of work on now though!
Well done for having your credit- free christmas! I hope to do the same next year.
I do have a savings account attached to my bank account - so I'm halfway there, shame it only has 1p in it though

Sounds like you had a nice productive weekend in the end peaceandfreedom. Well done to your DS for getting a job - it's nice that he can get lots of extra hours too. Good for him!
It will be interesting to see if your lettuce does come up!
Hope you managed to get your project completed."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -
I've had a kind of up and down weekend. I'm very worried about finances at the moment, which has been exacerbated by this missing payment from DH.
I was worrying about the MOT which happened today, but it only failed on a problem with the exhaust, and the whole bill including the MOT was £135 so that was a relief. The car has cost me a lot over the last month, but I'm so glad I didn't have a huge bill today which it would have been had I not had the tyre and brakes done a while ago. The starter motor is going to be done at the weekend, but Dh has said he'll cover that for now :kisses3:
Just got to insure it now, so will get on with that and hopefully earn some cashback too.
I've had an email back today from the watch company saying they will replace the buckle free of charge, so very pleased about that.
We also sold a good bit on ebay over the weekend so that was good and has cleared some more stuff. Funny story of the week though - I bought a DVD at the car boot sale last week, with the thought that I would watch it and get rid. To encourage me to get on and watch it, I listed it on ebay, so thought yesterday I would spend the day watching it (it was a series) in case it did sell. So I had a nice relaxing day watching it, and then was very chuffed in the end that it sold too. :T Even better was the fact that it sold for over double what I paid for it :j
I've sold a book on amazon today so that helps, and I've got some more items on ebay selling too. Must get some more listed though.
Oh and finally, I've discovered another reason why I'm so tight for money this month. I've overpaid a credit card by £100 . Normally that would be a good thing, but this month it's not. I don't know how I managed to do it, but it's very annoying. I could do with that money elsewhere this month.
One day it will all be easier I'm sure"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

I'm sure it will too, you just have to keep plodding on.
Good news about the MOT - not too bad at all. And the watch buckle. And well done on the DVD sale - that's really funny.
Pity about the extra hundred quid, picked a bad month to overpay. But on the plus side, you are doing well on amazon and ebay.0
