Oh for goodness sake buying special chairs???????
I don't have money for 'special chairs' only to be used if and when they deign to visit us not to mention where exactly i am supposed to store three 'special chairs'.
Get real, if overeating is an addiction as is smoking would you build a 'special shelter' for the smokers to sit in outside?
When i smoked i had to accept there were situations when my smoking would be a problem, surely overweight people should accept this too?
Oh and in reply to a post many pages back asking for sil's reaction when she broke my last couch it was to laugh!
I never once thought this thread would turn into this i actually anticipated advice on how to somehow reinforce the couches or polite ways to steer them towards another seat and i did join in with the jokes because as i said before if i hadn't laughed i would have cried.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

This thread just gets better and better.
hahaha. i knew that would get a reaction. I'm not really the PC type but i thought i'd throw the positive discrimination curve ball in there.
I'm currently in a dispute at work because someone is being paid £40k a year to be 'diversity and inclusion manager'. I thought that job was a waste of time and resource so now ive turned the whole PC rubbish on their head and gone the positive discrimination route of saying 'to be completely diverse and inclusive it shouldnt be an act thats seen or heard of, it should just happen' and now they're worrying im right.
Anyway, sorry for including you guys in my little game.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -

I bet your boss just loves you! Have you ever heard the phrase difficult to manage muttered anywhere near you? Or are you setting out your stall to be the next ' we don't need an inclusion manager because we are an inclusive company' manager! I will think of an acronym! - I doubt you will get it as you have probably peed so many people off playing your little games. I used to have a boss like you and during the next reorganisation bye bye .0 -

I work in a company of 14000 people so it doesnt have much impact. There are also quite a few of us complaining about it now as the company is getting a bit silly on the old health and safety and PC front.
I very much doubt they will get rid of me because i can point out an error in the system. Companies with HR departments and unions find it a bit harder to do than smaller companies
And i dont find anything wrong with standing up for something you believe in no matter what end that brings.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Don't kid yourself - mine was a Local Authority - with 17000 people! Even more reason to get rid as you are very expandable (pun and miss-spelling intended ) in a large organisation. Reorganisations happen all the time and oh dear you are surplus to requirements or shifted to be manager of comfort facilites.
Also not all readers of this forum are members in fact probably less than a 1/5 are members, so if membership is 1m readership is probably nearer to 5!0 -

I wouldn't worry. Just get yourself down to MacDonalds and Pizza Hut. Then if they try and get rid of you, you can then claim discrimination... and probably get a priority parking space into the bargain too.0

Well don't say I didn't warn you and don't be naive there are ways and means. You say it is worth standing up for what you believe in - yes I agree, but that is hardly worth it , is it? The manager is already in post, perhaps you should have kicked off when the appointment was first advertised.0

It wasnt advertised or i would have. Because you dont see it as worth it doesnt mean i dont, i actually see it as quite a big issue here as it has to stop at some point. Someone is actually being paid a very large amount of money to make sure all ethnic groups and varying societies are catered for at work when this should be happening anyway without the need of a made up role. Next they'll employ people to walk around and make sure everyone is sitting properly and the correct distance from their PC monitors - oh wait, they have! (They're called Employee ergonomic health advisors. I'm not even making this up! LOL)
I dont care if you think i should be fired or not, your opinion is of no concern to me. Infact im starting to think that you may a diversity and inclusion manager trying to justify your existence in a company (thats a joke by the way, just incase its been a while since your last).
if you wish to continue the debate I suggest you PM me - there isnt any need for our private off topic opinions to be public.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Getting back on Topic. OP I'm sorry to hear that after all that worry, they didn't come anyway.
