Good heavens man are you insane? I would be very careful talking common sense like that in forums.johnnyroper wrote: »which is also the point i have been trying to make in my posts, instead of posting stupid threads asking what phone to get why not post a thread asking about the price, features, pros and cons of each phone and then make up your own mind as to what phone you purchase?
or even just go to a phone shop and actually look at them???

Isn't this why we have debates about is handset x better than handset y? The problem every time iPhone comes out with a new one is that Apple make ludicrous claims about how high tec it is, others point out that other handsets (usually HTC) are more advanced, iPhone fans take it as an insult and off we go again.
Its very simple. If you like iPhone, get one. Don't get upset with the rest of us highlighting that you are being charged a vast amount of money for a product that isn't the revolution its claimed to be. And its the cost that baffles me - why are people happy to pay Apple an extra £100 for more memory when it costs Apple a fraction of that? And it could cost you a fraction of that if Apple had expandable memory slots like everyone else. But again if you're happy paying them the cash then fine. I can't help it if I find that funny.....0 -
You are entitled to your opinion and I such I won't lower myself to keeping the same standard and giving my opinion of name calling and trying to insult another persons choice ill founded though it may be.Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »Isn't this why we have debates about is handset x better than handset y? I'm not insulting anyones choice - I said get one if you want. You can't argue with my comments about Apple's pricing though - £100 for 16GB of memory is obscene.0 -

I think it's more a case of "supply and demand". They charge the amount that they do because that is what the market will support.
I agree that the iPhone is expensive. I got my last phone because it was cheaper than the iPhone (my tariff is about the same as you'd pay for a sim only iPhone contract, but it includes the phone). It plays films, has 3g, wifi, up to 32Gb (micro SD), MP3 player, games, sat nav, e-mail, SMS, MMS, the list goes on. I've since discovered that it's got one problem that I can't fix: it's not an iPhone.
I'm looking to upgrade nearer the end of the year. At that time, I will look at whatever has come out to replace the Desire. I will also check out what else is on the market from Samsung, Nokia and the like. Sitting here now, I am still certain that I will buy the iPhone.
I've been down the "cheaper than the iPhone" route. I've done the, on paper, "better than the iPhone". Now, I just want an iPhone but I draw the line at "wearing the t-shirt"!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

I'm curious about, if that's the only problem, why it's a problem? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

And iPhone has got enough momentum and enough "must have" apps now that I'm sure that is a problem for a lot of people.
I have a similar problem with iPod. Don't have one, don't want one. But I would love a device with the iPod connector on the bottom so that I could use some of the million devices that now have a cradle for an iPod.
If only iPod would let me do drag and drop, have expandable memory, let me play my music (not MP3 or AAC formats) and doesn't infolve !!!!!!! iTunes. then I'd have one....0 -
If you don't use itune but one of the many alternatives instead you can drag and drop, mind you itunes lets you drag and drop so that's the first and last eliminated, as for the second very few mp3 players do, as for the 3rd I think the clue mp3 player gives the clue as the the media it plays, anyway whats wrong with mp3, what do you want it to play oh besides the fact it also plays mp4 and any other quick time formats.Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »If only iPod would let me do drag and drop, have expandable memory, let me play my music (not MP3 or AAC formats) and doesn't infolve !!!!!!! iTunes. then I'd have one....Approach her; adore her. I don't need proxy settings at present but it would be an useful feature to have. Does the iPhone allow it. I know android doesn't and don't know if the froyo update sorts this out.
The desire does do exchange mail fully including calendars natively. The froyo update allows all other android phones to do that too.
Buying a phone is a personal decision, make a list of the features you want and where you use it and do a shortlist of phones and take others suggestions with a pinch of salt and then decide. There will always be a better phone every few months, wait if it suits you but what ever you buy in electronics will get outdated in a few months.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
The iPhone wins for me everytime , I have the iPhone , Wife has the Desire. Its a personal choice and its what the phone does for you that makes it ideal , the iPhone certainly has a few flaws for me which are , poor signal strength inside buildings - battery life - occasional struggle with sms predictor taking over - and Apples "you do it our way or no way" mentality can be offputting but everything else it does do simply blows the rest away...in MY opinion.0
