to use the fact battery cannot be changed as a reason not to buy is quite simply stupid
Smartphones are power hungry. Wanting to be able to change to a freshly charged battery in the field is far from stupid. As is using one battery whilst the other charges. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Yes, they're power hungry, when I'm at work my 3Gs is plugged in on my desk and when I'm at home it can be plugged in or connected to my laptop and if necessary I have a car adaptor. There is no need for a spare battery and I've never had one or known anyone who uses one.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.0

Not everyone is near a power source of any sort when they are out and about, hence the possible need for another battery.
Certainly not that uncommon in my experience.0 -

16 months with a 3g 6 months with a 3gs i have never had the need to change battery,i watch films, listen to music, surf tinternet and use for phone calls and text all the time.charge it overnight and have charger in work van and just in case i am not near a power source i have a case with built in back up battery although i have only used that while on a 8 hour flight.
like i say each to their own the iphone is ideal for me and for others it is not that is exactly why i said the OP should just make up his own mind about a phone as everyone has a different opinion.no one is right and no one is wrong it is just people have different needs which is why when choosing a phone i look at what is on market that i like look of and what suites me,why people find this difficult to do and feel need to ask people "what phone should i get is beyond me"!!!!!! get down a phone shop and have a look at them and make a decision based on budget, what you like look of and the features it has that best suite your needs.0 -
lets see how the phone 4 actually performs... the htc is an open scource system, sohomebrew items like emulators and the like are accepted. apple regulate more thorougly and theres no such stuff on there systems.. and no flash (for websites)either.0

There is no need for a spare battery the way you use it. The market for additional batteries for phones suggests many others use their phones differently. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

It's a cheap copy so quite clunky and designed for the 3G/3GS, but it does solve the battery changing issue. No doubt there will be similar products for the iPhone 4 and they should be a bit more streamlined! In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
if you want to use the phone how you want then get a Desire
if you want to use the phone exactly how apple want, then get an iphone.
I had a HTC Magic and then switched to an iphone 3g and got so frustrated by what i couldnt do and how even turning off 3g was so long winded. 3 months later i ditched it and got the desire, its a fantastic phone and its just so much easier to use.
The only impressive thing about the iphone4 is the screen, but even then its pointless really given the size of the screen.... but even that they lied about...

Being able to change batteries is a very big plus but being able to plug in a backup is a quite acceptable solution
If you don't think anyone needs a spare just remember that the next time someone says "Can't talk my battery is running low" of course that may just be an excuse
Remember that contracts are getting longer and I usually pass my phone on to my daughter. In 2-3 years you may need to replace the battery
How much does it cost for an Iphone battery replacement ?TANSTAAFL !0 -
Can you manage groups for text & mailing? What I mean is create a group that I can easily add & remove names to... And here is a revolutionary thing for the iPhone ... Just be able to send a mail or text to that group name without having to add each name individually. I could do this with my first mobile that I had 10 years ago; but NOT with my 3GS!!!!!! How can the iPhone be sold as a business product if you cannot manage this.
I would upgrade just for this feature.
I completely love the iPhone apart from this annoying packing area.
"There is an app for that - Group Mail" (for email, now you can sms from apps in OS4 i think you will see something for sms very soon)0
