Hi All,
Quick query re QX Dial +. I use ED50 - is it worth 'storing' the maximum of 300 mins per day. This hinges on the charge for 0870 numbers once your 50 free mins has run out. Phoned Orange today and they said that it charges 6p/min after 50 mins are up. Shouldn't it be 1p/min? (she didn't sound too sure!)
Thanks
PS - used QX Dial + - easy to use and great line quality.0 -
It is 1p for 0870. 6p pertains 0845 numbers once free mins have been used up(though they may have changed this to 1p).
There is a new "MAX Duration of 120 minutes"
No need to exceed your free bundle unless you need to use them that or the next day.0 -
For those who can't use a freephone override number from their mobile, is it possible to use one geographic access number (say on one's inclusive landline minutes) to access another geographic access number to connect with another cross-network number. For example, could you phone 18866's 0207 access number to access 1899's 0207 number to call cross-network at (1p connection + 1/2p per minute (18866 charges)) + 3p (1899 charges) = 4p connection + 1/2 per minite (total charges). Phew!
Apologies for message above. I'm not sure I made myself clear, or even understood what I was saying.
However, as good an example as any is given by looking at O2's pay as go tarrif "Talkalot/more". Cross-network calls are charged at 40p per minute. As far as I'm aware, using 0800/0808 override numbers to reduce the price of such cross-network calls is either outright barred, prohibited, or prohibitively expensive. An alternative to paying 40p per minute is to dial geographic override numbers such as that provided by 1899, either as part of the 300 off-peak inclusive minutes to landline/O2 numbers or, when they've run out or at peak times, by phoning the same override number at the standard Talkalot/more landline cost of 25p all-in at all times for the first three minutes, 5p p/min evenings, 2p p/min weekends. Paying £5 per month bolt-on to O2 to dial the geographic override number as a half-price 'favourite number' would reduce these Talkalot/more costs to c. 13p, 3p, and 1p respectively, Of course, you would still be charged by the override number provider (3p connection, 0p per minute in the case of 1899).
In summary, it seems that instead of paying 40p p/min to make cross-network calls on O2 pay as you go Talkalot/more, you can make them for 3p in total (payable to 1899) within your inclusive minutes, or between c. 4p and 16p otherwise. Someone tell me if I'm right or wrong! And ignore my gibberish about overriding override numbers - I don't know where I was going with that.0 -

Yes it is possible to override, but both 18866 and 1899 charge 10p per minute to call mobile telephones. The exception being weekends, at 2p. This of course, does not include connection charges.0 -

Yes, you're right. 10p or 2p per minute (payable exclusively to 1899 or 18866) within your inclusive minutes, or between c.2p and c.23p otherwise (payable to a combination of 18866 or 1899 AND O2). Sure beats 40p per minute!0 -
You have to get the letter 'p' to show up in the number. On nokias you press * until you see it I think. Some phones you have to go into a menu and choose 'insert pause'.
Some phones (motorolas being one make) allow you to put 'p' and then 'n' which means any number, so if you store 08xxxxxxxxpn in your phonebook, when you dial it, it asks you what number from your contacts that you want dial!
I tried that for the 18866 number putting in 02070019797pxxxxxxxxx and it gives me the message asking me to enter the number, then it does nothing. I even tried putting the hash in at the end into my phonebook entry. Still doesn't work.
Is this not compatible with the 18866 service then?
Bah, remembering the number to put in isn't so bad anyway,0 -
Not sure who posted this but if you put a + after the access number (and pin if required for other services) it will automatically open your address book for you, allowing you to scroll down and select chosen number. I know it works on nokias, interested to find out which others.
Not so important if the call is free but saves money if on pay as you go.0 -
Anyone know how to send and receive texts from a mobile for cheap, along the same lines as geographic override numbers ( eg 020 7) for voice calls?0

Hey that's just what I need.
Anyone know what the other symbols do? * and w?0 -
Will the access number work from mobile to mobile. If I understand correctly by using the access number,my phone call from my mobile to a landline will be free, am I correct? Also how many mobile number one is allowed to register. Thanks.0
