I think Ophelia is lovely. The name always makes me think "Ophelia bum" like someone else said, its because my dad always used to joke about that lol. Its still a lovely name though and I wouldnt let that put you off.
I know someone said she would get called Ophy or Feely but you could make her nickname Lia? A lot better than the other options lol.

We arent having a baby but we have already picked a name for a girl (he disagrees with every boy name lol). Its a name my husband thought up and its very unusual and not known very much though there are some people called it in the world. I dont know anyone at all with this name, which is unusual in itself with such a big family lol. I told my family it one day and my Mum laughed in my face, my sister was like.. what..... and my Mum went off telling people we want to call our future daughter this and one person said "Those americans, always picking stupid names". Well, its nice and pretty so who cares what others think :D But I wont share it haha.
Good luck whatever you choose, Im sure it will be lovely!

How about Olivia? Close, but without the possible puns! If I ever have a girl, it'll be a choice between Olivia and Emilie.

my cousin's daughter is Ophelia. We also have a Pandora, Miranda and Cordelia in the family.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

I really think that if you love a name, go for it :)

My DD is called Daisy ( now a teenage emo/goth :rotfl: ) and when she was a baby we would sing to her. DS was convinced that the nickname for someone called Daisy was 'Do', and DD was called this for years.

I see where he got this idea, 'Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, Do....' :D

Ophelia is lovely, but no people probably won't be able to spell it. Lol.

Dont worry no one could ever spell my name growing up. I have a common first name but spelt with a different first letter. Didn't do me any harm!!!

My first daughter is Olivia (but always gets Liv). When she was born in 2000 i hadn't heard of any other Olivias. When she started school there were 6 in her year, 3 in her class!

Which is exctly what my Nan was always called (her name was Violet, one of my DD's middle names)

My baby daughter is Violet. I did say when we were having her it wouldn't be shortened, but sometimes now I find myself saying Vi or V. I still haven't heard of any other real life Violets (under 70 years old) and I will scream if she starts school and another bunch of Violets appear.

When she was born, and we told people the name, we got some strange looks, but it's grown on everyone and they love it now.

(Except my Nan who said all the Violets she knew back in the day were tarts!):rotfl:

I hope you don't live near me then 3onitsway because my friend has a baby daughter called Violet! I think it's a beautiful name.

I would go with whatever makes you happy OP. If children are going to tease about names they will. I was constantly teased (although about my surname) but it was always in good fun and never bothered me - just bored me eventually! I think Ophelia is very pretty and if you like it, go for it!

I wanted to call my eldest daughter Cordelia and didn't because of other people's reactions. I still regret it sometimes. And I wanted to call my son Felix and didn't because of the cat food! I'm glad about that now because he soooo isn't a Felix. But how are you to know when you look at that little newborn how they will develop? Go with what your heart tells you.

Congratulations - enjoy your pregnancy x
