Viola would go well with your surname! (doesn't go with OHs surname as it starts with a vowel, so to too much of a glottal stop.)

    How about Finula?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

As a teacher I come across all sorts of names, some of which are unintentionally hilarious.
Must admit, I was another one who automatically thought Aveve = Aviva.
Ophelia is a nice name but a) hard to shorten, if your daughter wants a nickname and
    b) it's very girly - supposing your daughter turns out not to be that kind of girl? I knew a girl called Juliette when I was small, who was completely the opposite of a Juliette...a real tomboy and it didn't suit her at all. Luckily she was able to shorten it to Jools, which is less frilly and suited her much better.
My theory with names is that if you have an everyday ordinary surname, you can add an unusual first name...and if your surname is unusual, you do better with a less unusual first name.
Ophelia Gamlin does make me do a double-take and think, "Feel your what?"

    I'll vote against Ophelia!

I'm a big Shakespeare fan, but to me it just sounds too much like "I'll feel ya"!!!! I'd worry that during the teenage years, she'd get the p*ss taken out of her!

Sorry op...but i agree with the above post, that she would be teased as a teenager with the name Ophelia. Also i think the name Aveve is awfull - sorry:o

I think in theory a lot of names are lovely, but in real life they dont come across so well, Ophelia is lovely, but she will get feely or ophy when she is older. Viola is nice as long as you dont mind Vi!!

I am due to have a baby at any moment! Currently 12 days late!!!

If I have a girl I am going to call her Phoebe Amelia.

I have absolutely no clue what to call the baby if it is a boy.

If you want to go Shakespearean, how about Rosamund?
Could become Ros, Rose, Rosie at different times in your daughter's life; is unusual but not weird; everyone can read/spell it...you could do a lot worse.
I think it's an important consideration about reading/spelling as it's frustrating always to have to spell your name out or to have to correct the pronunciation.
My name is fairly unusual (just because it's quite old-fashioned) and it's annoying to get it misspelled often, although the misspelling wouldn't affect the pronunciation...

I'd rather you be honest than just say it's a nice name if you don't mean it;).
Like Aveve for example i hadn't thought at all of what people on here had said - so i'd rather be told on here than naming my baby {~if it's a girl that is} and having people snicker at it later on! So i'm greatful.:D
