Ophelia is gorgeous. It's very unheard of around where I love. It's not strange at all. Great choice, if you go along with it.0

Ophelia is lovely and not a name I have come across in the 9 years I have worked in a school.
As for MIL's, if we had named our daughter the name ours said was her favourite, poor kid would have been called Druscilla. Apologies to any Druscillas on the boards but there was no way I was lumbering our daughter with a name like that! I reckon my OH had a lucky escape that he was a boy because that would have been his name if he had been a girl.0 -
Beautiful name x0

Well believe it or not there was a girl called Ophelia at our school. She was never teased in primary school but in high school some of the boys started with the "I'll feel you" and such plays on her name. She was a pretty strong minded individual though so it never really got to her - she would normally just taunt the guys back and was clever enough to know what would get them to shy away in defeat.
I could imagine a more sensitive girl being more affected by it but I wouldn't let this deter you. It is a very nice name.0 -
Personally kids will bully on various factors, names being only the start.
I like Ophelia and also the suggestion of Viola that Pinkshoes made.
I thought with my daughters name we'd picked something not wild and wacky but not too common either. And blow me a month ago in the local rag was a birth annoucement for a little girl with my DD's first and second name!!!! Was most put out LOLI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Another thread on boys baby names prompted me to post.
Not long found out i was pregnant again, so early days still{four years trying for the first - babies must be like buses}, but want some opinions.
DH and i love the name Ophelia if the new baby is another girl {DD is called Scarlett}. We are a little worried if people can pronounce it or if it a little too strange.
What do you guys think?
For boy's we like Xander, Daniel and Tom. The only other girls name we like is Aveve which is also unusual.:p
Ophelia is very pretty.. and I know somebody who called their little boy Xander which is also nice.
Congrats on your forthcoming new bubba!0
