Okay I am planning to buying the new Iphone and then using this SIM (pref £10 per month deal), also plan to include my wife onto giffgaff so that we can use free calls. We both are very low users of mobile services - at moment with 3 and we just use £5 topup every 2-3 months as the £5 is valid for 60 or 90 days can't remember.
If you are a low user, why £10 goodybag unless you need mobile internet? Can you not do with £5 goodybag or even without any goodibag?
I was wondering if someone could help me understand the following -

    1) If I go for the £10 goodiebag one month then till when is it valid - only for 1 month? If so, what will happen if I don't buy another goodiebag after the expiry?
A goodybag lasts for 1 month. After it expires you pay PAYG prices: http://giffgaff.com/index/pricing
    2) As most of my calls will be to giffgaff callers can I not top up for 2-3 months and still use the free giffgaff to giffgaff calls?
    You can: "Free to giffgaff:
You need to top-up at least every 3 months to receive free giffgaff to giffgaff calls, if you don't other UK rates will apply as above. The free giffgaff to giffgaff calls last for 60 minutes per call, so you need to hang up and re-dial if you want to keep talking
    ."
    3) A bit off topic - Does using a cut down giff gaff sim invalidate the iphone warranty?
I don't see any reasons for this.

I as a mostly low user do not bother with Goodybags .
Spent sub £1 the last three months and probably £2 today .

Pull most of my stuff via WiFi.

I think the reason for a goodiebag worth £10 was to be able to experience iphone .. without mobile internet is iphone worth it?

Also, how does a wifi connection work at home - I have a wifi router at home?

Just check the available wifi access points and connect to yours using the password you set for it. In the future the phone will connect automatically.

Since starting with GiffGaff a steady £10 per month has been going out, apparently on data. No way of analysing it however, since GG does not provide anu bill or usage itemization at all. My previous mobile telco Virgin did at least show each recent data access on a 'My Account' page.

So I'm now thinking of turning all 3g data services off and only using data on the WiFi at home.

For non-data, GG is a good deal though.

Lol, just buy a goodybag, then you get all the data you want.

Do you not get an email every month showing you No of texts, minutes, total MB, No. of days data used, No, days over 20MB used?

    I do.

No such emails have been received in nearly 4 months and 3 topups. In my account settings there does not seem to be a mailing preference for this.

Do you only get them if you buy goodybags?

[ edit ] - from a scan on the GG forum just now, looks like I have to say yes to the "Give me info and offers about giffgaff" preference in my account. Clear or what?
