Thanks but I can't see where it mentions connecting to the internet in other countries.

    cheers
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

    ... yet!

I followed your link and discovered:
During the promotional period there will be no WAP or Internet services whilst roaming abroad. After the promotional period, data roaming will be enabled and it will have a charge associated, which will be published on the pricing page.
So whilst roaming internet is not currently available,
it will be later :j ... at a price no doubt!

I have been given a new phone by my daughter - a Samsung Jet. Previously I had a very old phone which allowed me to telephone and text. It is on a O2 PAYG and because I advertise the number on my letterhead and friends and my shop know it I receive quite a lot of calls. But I am a careful moneysaver so I have only used about £15 every 3-4 months. I have never got the hang of texting so have found a child with good eyesight if I needed to text (once or twice a year).

BUT the new phone seems to do loads and I am keen to explore. It has camera, Internet etc. I have read the forum and there is a lot of enthusiasm for Gaffgaff so I have a sim on it's way.

My reservation is only this ..... my number is on all my friends phones. On Business heading as well, What would happen if the company failed and I had transferred my number to them?

GiffGaff is owned by O2 ,part of the Telefonica Group. In the unlikely event it ceased to trade you would be able to port your number.

Highly unlikely, but I believe they would just send everyone their pac code so they could port out.

I realise I am not the world's best spending customer(!) but would the dept I ask for the code be interested in keeping me if they are all part of same group?

Only one way to find out!

Always to good to have an idea of what you want before you ring ... though if you are spending so little you probably don't want a contract?!

Let us know how you get on.

I doubt it as you are a PAYG customer - Also the fact you are switching from 02 to GiffGaff means they are not losing you as a customer - 02 will still benefit whichever one of their services you decide to use.

You could possibly get a good SIM only deal though from 02 if you wanted to go to a pay monthly or 30 day contract with them.
