hello! I am so sorry to read about your plight :(

I've been wracking my brains to think of what might help... And have been calculating, thinking and researching away to myself.

Ok so your main need for you and OH after your pasta and chicken run out, is calories, pure and simple. I'm going to take as completely literally that there's nothing else in your cupboards or fridge.

So at the risk of being laughed off the boards, here's what I suggest, you trawl down the back of your sofa, all your coat pockets, any old coin purses or wallets and finally the streets around your house. I need you to find 27p.

Then you walk to asda/tesco and buy a 250g block of lard. (this is the cheapest thing i can find with a high energy value.)

Obviously I'm not going to recommend you eat this as it is.

But it is also nettle season. Harvest at least 2-3 carrier bags full of nettle tops (use gloves and scissors) harvest just the top 2-3 inches.

Wash them well with your gloves on and fry them in your lard. If you do have any spices, they will really help, but don't worry, it's just like buttered spinach.

You will be able to live longer on this than spinach though, because nettles contain 40% protein, amazingly enough :)

the rest is carbohydrate, and the fat will be supplied by the lard.

Obviously I don't know your weight and height, but this would keep you and OH going for 3-4 days without any weightloss.

All offered with geniuneness and the hope that you can somehow get yourself out of this horrible situation :(

    Love weezl xxx

edit: cook them for at least 5 mins to lose the sting, and harvest the youngest nettles you can so the silicone content is not too high.

See if any one on your local freecycle has a bike they are offering, that way it would help with your transport problems, or ask a neighbour if you can borrow one of theirs.

If you live anywhere near a market, there might be free food at the end of the day left out. Fruit and veg that is.

Or a greengrocers might give you some manky/wrinkly looking produce for nothing if you ask that is still usable. Or if you don't want to ask or wait, perhaps ask at stalls/shops if they have any spare greens/carrots for your 'rabbit'!

    Hope you get sorted soon.

If you can't get to a CAB you can visit this website

They have info on the home page about how to email them to request they call you if you have no credit.

Speak to your local homelessness office at the council - tell them that you are sleeping rough and that you need help - they should be able to signpost you to a local charity that will feed you for free or very low cost - or will give you a food parcel.

Swallow your pride and speak to your neighbours - explain your situation and ask them if they will 'lend' you food and that you will pay them back in cash when you are in funds...although I think the majority of people would give you food for free anyhow - I really hope that if any of my neighbours were in a similar situation that they would ask me for help.

Dumpster-diving is worth a go and check out the backdoors of local shops/fast food outlets at closing time - there is a lot of waste at places like McD as any burgers etc that been prepared a few hours are removed from the hot shelves and binned.

Definately get in touch with your housing department and query your housing benefit & generally gee them up into getting yours sorted out sooner rather than later.

    Good luck and take care

Sorry to hear about your situation OP. Are there any homless charities near you? they often ask no questions about your situation and could really help you out.

    Best of luck

Please dont go dumpster diving! dumpsters are not cleaned out regularly and although there may be perfectly good food chucked in it - you cannot be certain that it hasnt been contaminated by the dumpster or by rats. you would be risking your life! and I cannot believe that people are telling you to do this!!! are they mad??? would they???
  • The OP hasn't posted at all today - if you are reading the thread do let us know how you got on - I have been worried about you. Have you managed to get any money together?

    Salvation Army?

I second this, they usually have boxes of an assortment of food like baked beans, soup, etc that they give away.
