Hi all,

I feel so stupid posting this :/ but i have no choice.

After losing my job, and failing to get paid last month ( i am taking this to the employment tribunal ), myself and my OH have been really struggling. At the moment we have literally no money. Not a penny.
He is currently walking to and from work every day and i am still job hunting.
My benefits are currently not due for another 2 weeks as my last ones needed to be used to try and make up our rent, although we are still 100 quid short on that and its due monday.
We have nothing at all at the moment, and nothing to sell in order to make money :(
In the fridge/freezer we have 1 chicken kiev and 2 chicken escalopes. In the cupboards we have a tiny bit of pasta, maybe one serving and some sweetcorn.

Im at a loss, dont know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?
OP I really do wonder if you have money that maybe you have forgotten about or don't really see as money anymore. My partner and I save 1p's, 2p's and 5p's without noticing in a jar. There must be at least £15 in ours if we ever needed it and we do forget about it really unless we are putting the money in it. Just an idea as you may have something simular that you might not see otherwise.

You do have the internet so would it be possible to get in contact with someone you know to do a basic shop for you online to be sent to your address and pay them back when you can? Things like tinned tomatoes, onions, pasta, lentils etc can make many meals and are cheap.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

Sorry, but I've had to delete posts offering gifts and cash to the OP. It's a lovely thought, and I'm sure it would be appreciated, but it's against the forum rules, as it involves exchanging personal details.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, gifting, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Yes, we all feel sympathy for the OP, but as well as what Penny points out re rules there will always be more cases like this and we cannot give to everybody.....I have been asked in the past to give money to someone (on another unnamed thread- it was done by PM) and I said no. Not because I don't care but because I just did not think it was appropriate.
OP I really hope you get something sorted out. Speaking as an ex-money adviser, I agree you need a full benefits check. I presume if your OH is working and you are on JSA your JSA must be contribution based (and so will stop after 6 months)....or is he earning very little ? Walk to that CAB outreach- it is decent weather right now, and who knows what they might be able to do....
Also is there no family you can ask, or friends ? I would struggle to lend a friend much cash but would always be able to make up a small box of survival stuff (eg pasta, oats, tinned toms, flour, marg, juice, tea etc).
All the very best and please let us know how you fare!

Im not sure how much help this will be but if you post on frecycle for surplus homegrown vegetables you should get some response. I did this some time back and had wonderful response. Maybe offer to assist in return?

I hope you get something sorted. Please come back and let us know how you get on.

I would check the CAB opening times first, make sure you can just turn up, make sure there will be advisors there all day before you walk. Ours does not open everyday to first meetings, does not allow you to book an appointment for a first meeting, works on a first come first serve basis, and if you arrive too late on, and there are still loads of people in front, you will have to try your luck the next time they open.

I am not saying don't go, but be ready for loads of people queing on the doorstep at opening time, and a very long wait with the possibility of not getting seen that day.
