Just read these posts and am really touched by how kind and caring eveyone is, gives me faith in humanity:)
Lillmissking88 maybe try putting a post on freecycle to see if anybody near you has a glut of produce, eggs for example, or even things in their store cupboard they are not going to eat, it's a long shot but you never know you might hit lucky with a kind soul who lives locally.0 -
what about going to your local church? is there a drop in kitchen near you? you could go there tell them your situation, and when you get your money give them a donation, or donate food back to them.
I know there are drop in centre all around our city.
apart from that, why dont you try and skip dive the supermarkets bins ( please done shout, i know you are not suposed to do it, but hay if needs must)
also what about going round the local cafe's/ chip shops/ fast food chains and asking for casual work and in return for some food.
But i would personally walk all day if it ment cab helping me sort things out.Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hiya,
There is a salvation army on fulbar street in Renfrew who might be able to provide you help with food etc, they may also be able to fund the bus fair to paisley for you. It's worth a try seeing them. They might also do a soup kitchen which would at least give you something to eat. The address is: 60 Fulbar Street, Renfrew PA4 8PB
There is also emmaus which although is a homeless charity should be able to either help you or offer some advice https://www.emmaus.org.uk
Hope you can get some help!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
I don't have anything to add really but have you got NOTHING in the way of storecupboard ingredients that you could make something with? Can OH not get an advance on his wages. Whatever you do don't borrow from any kind of moneylender - I saw an advert on the TV this morning for Cashtillpayday and the interest rate on screen was 260% p.a.
You really do need to get some help - if you don't have any phone credit then you can sometimes get places to ring you back if you give them your phone number. There is a CAB in Renfrew - it's on Paisley Street :

The CAB, if you can possibly get to them WILL help you.
I feel for you - hope things work out for you.Jane

Good find :T
That's an outrech service so you may not be able to be seen there. But if you explain calmly to the adviser (the link say's there's someone there on Friday mornings) he or she may be able to get someone to ring you back. I'd advise you to turn up 15mins before the dtart of the session, but be prepared to wait until the end, if that's the only time they can fit you in.
Bearing in mind the number of no-shows I have at outreach sessions, you may be lucky.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Are you near Saiisbury?
here is salisbury foodbank
http://www.trusselltrust.org/content/foodbank/foodbank.htm
I'd just seen the front post and gone off and found a link I posted on (site that shall not be mentioned) re the Trussell Trust. They do have places nationally - so there might be one near you possibly.
Obviously too - I would suggest freeganism - ie investigating supermarket skips to see what perfectly usable food they have thrown out.
Other thought - maybe a notice up somewhere suitable (eg Post Office window/local church noticeboard) stating what useful skills you have and offering to "trade" them for some food/share of surplus garden produce. Maybe something along the lines of "Two hardworking people willing to do few hours labour at your home in exchange for a square meal and/or share of surplus garden produce". Other people may not be able to help with money - even as a loan - but may have some spare garden produce that would make up into a few meals for you.0 -
Do you have neighbours hun? If one of mine came to see me in this situation (even if i hadnt spoken to them before) I would certainly hunt through freezer and cupboards to see what i could give them to help tide them over.
I currently have a few ice cream containers of curry and casseroles in the freezer and if you lived in wales not scotland you would be more than welcome to them.
please, dont be proud - you scots look after your own and I am sure your neighbours would help if asked! even if its just for tonight while you sort things out.0 -
Firstly, please do not use this as a long term solution,it's not but it may help.I have used this in the past but only in dire emergencies.I will be useing it again in July as I dont get paid until the 7th of the month & am going away on excersise with TA on 3rd.

For example:(Repayment date: Thu Jun 24 2010) Borrowing £50 + Interest & fees £17.00 = Total to repay £67.00
As I said,I have used them before & they are reliable & no hidden extras. All I needed was a debit card & my slaery going into the same bank account & a couple quid in the bank for the credit check.
But as I said at the top, dont rely on this as a permanent solution.
Good luck, having spent 14 months on the dole last year,I know how low things can get.0 -
I know this is going to sound awful so please don't be offended as I do mean it to be helpful but if there's no way of rasing cash have you thought about doing the looking in supermarket bins thing (sorry, can't remember what people call it), people seem to be able to find large amounts of perfectly good food there.

Register with Skypee or Voip Cheap and call the CAB office from your computer if you currently don't have access to a phone. They may be able to offer some assistance over the phone.0
