Yes that is it exactly, often it is a bit/very sad estate sales are when the entire contents of a house is sold (usually as part of a deceased estate) so for me lots of vintage patterns, notions, haberdashery etc plus anything else that takes my fancy and fits in a small suitcase.0

it is hurricane season in Miami........................never mind. Lazy day by the pool today, football tonight and a good look at teh science museum tomorrow. Lots of skinny people by the pool - oh dear I mustn't dive in the splash will drench them.0

I did my estate sales this morning but no purchases (fairly miraculous) and then I went to the science museum to get ready for tomorrow. I went to the football match yesterday and we are now having an electrical storm very similar to the one that stopped play yesterday. I am not really sure about Miami yet, you really need a car here, I think, it will be interesting to see if I can work out the public transport tomorrow.0

Is today your presentation day? If so, best of luck!
Glad you're having fun ... shame there were no exciting finds at the estate sales. Will you fit in any more before you have to come home?Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hi HBBBO the presentation in an hours time, thanks for the good luck I could do with it. The whole of Miami is a wee bit "foggy" and smells of burning due to a terrible fire in the Everglades. It needs to rain now but it probably wont until the afternoon.0

Hope it went well !
I think an estate sale would be very interesting. I love vintage fairs and things like that. I like to 'rescue' things and enjoy them for a while. However, as I am also a keen de-clutterer, I would normally move things on after a couple of years, for someone else to enjoy.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi GG I do move things on but it is a more theoretical than real move most of the time, which leaves me with a whole room of Ebay nightmare.
There must have been a mozzie in my room last night, 11 bites on one leg and 8 on one arm - ITCHERY.
I have , so far, found no real shops in Coconut Grove, nowhere to buy fruit and groceries, nor a pharmacy. On the other hand there are branches of Prada on every corner. I must sort out where real people shop today as I need that roll on bite reliever that has rescued HBBBO.
I am cranking out a draft of my report today, hopefully by the pool although it is raining quite heavily at the moment. I have really enjoyed teh last few days, great project and a lovely team. The jury is out about Miami though.....................0 -

Oooh my sympathies Toots, all those nibbles must be driving you craaazy!
Hope you find a pharmacy ... is it worth asking your hotel reception desk where people go for "normal" shopping?
Happy report writing ... I too am just coming to the end of a report which will be approx 30,000 words when finished. then I can get back to doing my usual work.
Safe journey home too xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

I am back home, the garden is a bit parched but everything seems to have survived. I have really bad jet lag...............and feel like all of my limbs weigh a ton. Hopefully so long as I stay awake today I should be able to shake it off. One of my voluntary pieces of work is stressing me out. I need to get rid of it ASAP which I am doing by writing their grant application and then I am hoping to back out gracefully. Big retirement tip, say no to everything until you have had at least a few weeks off.0

I think that is good advice. When I stop work, I want to take time out to establish my new way of life, and not feel like I've got to rush around 'doing stuff'Early retired - 18th December 2014
