Thanks for the encouragement alliwantistosave, crumblepie and Trying_really_hard.

Did W1R2 this morning.:T Seem to have gained 2lb since Sunday. Has anyone else experienced a weight gain?

It might be liquid if you are drinking a lot more water due to the running, Don't fret too much as weight normally takes 2 weeks to show after starting different exercise. Also only weigh yourself once a week, wearing the same clothes and about the same time. Some people say naked 1st thing in the morning is the best time to weigh yourself.

I have done week 7 run 1 and 2 at the gym though. Its funny when you look back and think how you panted at 90 seconds and even how I thought I'll never do 20 minutes. Can't believe how much this plan has helped. Body Attack tomorrow and then run 3 on Thursday dependent on how my hip feels.

PS - The headphones are awesome. The full runs of 25+ mins and they didn't fall out once. :j

I feel exactly the same way, never thought 25 min's would be achievable but I am so glad that I started the plan :D
Glad the headphones are working well for you too

haven't done a run this week - hurt my knee (not through running) and so i'm resting it. Shame, as my shins feel better and the weather is SO gorgeous at the moment!!

Hope your knee gets better soon Betty so you can get back out in the sunshine :D

Did week 7 run 1 tonight and boy was it hot hot hot! I thought I was going to collapse from heat exhaustion at one point but managed to keep going but the last 5 mins felt like 30

Hope to get out again on saturday if it is not too hot, or might have to go 1st thing before it gets too warm.

Have a nice weekend everyone :D

Wow, 25 minutes running, well done, alliwantistosave!:T I bet that felt amazing to have accomplished. :j

I completed week 1 run 4 tonight. It is a little easier than the start of the week, but I've still no idea how I'm going to manage sets of 90secs.

You might be right about the water. I've gained a total of four pounds this week; it's ridiculous. If this is muscle, I'm going to look like schwarzenegger by week 9!:rotfl:
    Good, clean fun.... :D

  • Hello All. Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend. :D

I managed to get out in the sunshine for a run today! Although I really did not think it through. Picked the busiest and hottest part of the day to do it. A little kid on a bike managed to run into me. From behind!? How close was he to me to have done this?! Hahaha.

My hip is a little twingey again which is making running a chore again. I'm popping Cod Liver Oil like its going out of fashion! Found some stretches on the internet to see if I can help alleviate it.

Technically, this should have been week 8 run 1, but I kept stopping and starting because of the maniacal children and dog walkers :D so I might do it again on Wed/Thursday.

A nice short week for me this week. As much as I like this, it messes with my exercise routine and I am a creature of habit. I hope everyone has a nice week.
How long til pay day?

  • Just completed week 8 run 1 :j

28 mins OMG! I can't believe it  I can almost call myself a runner now :rotfl:

I still not managing the full 5km in the 28 min's and can't see the extra 2 min's making a big difference either. So I guess I will just have to up my speed a little too before the Race for Life :)

Hope everyone else is doing ok ? Been a little quiet on here this week

I have to admit I haven't been out at all this week. Digging over the garden and choosing pretty plants has taken priority. And its been blooming hot!

hey guys ive just found this thread after starting the programme this week.

Im really enjoying it but only managing to power walk the jog parts and Ive only managed 1 min of jogging so far each session.

Ive lost 3 stone but have another 7 to go... so am still pretty unfit :(

Is it ok to power walk the jog parts or am I just kidding myself?

Hi everybody, I have just started again. I got to Week 8, day 1 at the end of last summer. I have done days 1 and 2 of week 1 so far this week.

Wow, well done that is a huge amount to lose!

I think power walking is great, you are out there doing it (which is the biggest part of the battle) and if you keep going it will come. Plus, if you haven't done any jogging for a long time you don't want to injure yourself. Just stick to week 1 for as long as it takes until you can do the jogs. Oh and ironically I think power walking is meant to be very good for burning calories :j

I'm not following the programme yet but did go out for a long power walk/jog/run last night - went over the paths/fields near to us and felt I was doing ok - with managing about 90 seconds for the jog/run bit.

Then I heard some distant loud kids - as in they were in a garden across the field - and they were shouting "run fatty run":mad::mad:

How rude was that!!! I have lost nearly 3 stone on Slimming World and am about a size 16 now and do not consider myself 'fat' I did not look in their direction and just ignored it but was half tempted to locate the house and knock on the door and have a go at the parents to ask them to explain to their kids how wrong their behaviour was.

I'm a tough cookie and work with teenagers so am use to the odd rude comment - I was bullied through school for being overweight - and if they are like that with other people trying to do some excercise it might put them off. Has not put me off - just annoyed me!

If I hear them again I might go round or stick a note through the door.

I'd only ventured out as a means of avoiding the chocolate jar, luckily rest of the hour was nice - seeing lots of little rabbits out at dusk.

Might go out again tomorrow - knees ached this am so don't want to over do it!

alisont I probably would go put a note through the door at the very least!

Well am back again after I fell off the wagon last autumn, been out for a run this afternoon did about 1.3 miles in 14.09, which is shocking given I was doing it in under 11 mins before - although that was across fields and footpaths while now I'm running on the roads. Will have to dig out my mp3 player and finally download the program on to it.
