Well, I have read all 42 pages of this thread and you've all inspired me to start running. Maybe this is an exercise regime that I'll keep? Have 42lb to lose and I'm really struggling.
I did W1 R1 on Sunday. First 2 sets, thought "this isn't bad, what were you worried about". By the 5th set, I wasn't feeling so chipperand had a really bad stitch by the last set. And OMG, talk about beetroot face, very scary. You wouldn't have wanted to meet me in a dark alley!
So, am planning to do W1R2 tomorrow morning. We'll see how this one goes.
It's nice to know that there are other people out there worried about running for any length of time. :T Makes me feel better.Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800 -

I'm so glad I have managed to carry on and keep going I'm proud as punch:D
Well done on starting Wirenth you have taken the hardest step you will find it does become's easier as the programme goes on I was like you after my first run/podcastRestarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed
Need to loose 25lb / 3lb lost so far0 -
:j All I want - Well done on the 25 minutes!
wirenth - :T you've started the plan - it will get easier.
I haven't run since Sunday but I went for a bike ride instead today. I think my runs will be towards the end of the week and very early in the morning as its quite hot outside. My red face will be even more red if i attempt anything during the day, or maybe i can say it's a sun tan?:)0 -
Hello All!
Wirenth - you've got the running bug. Congratulations. The C25K plan is really good at getting you into it. I would never have done it without.
Wow - so many people have had a good week/end with their runs. Crumble, Alliwant and Silkstrut, Betty. Sadly, didn't get outside. I went to the opticians and then to Meadowhall to return a few things and when I got back it started to cloud up so I didn't fancy going anymore (sun makes me want to run outside!). I should have done the run first thing and that would have made me go outside. It is my resolution to run outside this weekend though (its a 4 day one, surely I can do it once outside!).
I have done week 7 run 1 and 2 at the gym though. Its funny when you look back and think how you panted at 90 seconds and even how I thought I'll never do 20 minutes. Can't believe how much this plan has helped. Body Attack tomorrow and then run 3 on Thursday dependent on how my hip feels.
PS - The headphones are awesome. The full runs of 25+ mins and they didn't fall out once. :j
Betty - hope your shin feels better soon. How long til pay day?

Did W1R2 this morning.:T Seem to have gained 2lb since Sunday. Has anyone else experienced a weight gain?Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800 -
I've just re-started this. I managed to get to week 4 and knackered my ankle a couple of years ago but have dusted off my trainers and have done week 1. My legs are killing me but am determined to get to 5k this time.:j I quite like coming home and seeing how i've done - I got a Nike+ watch and haven't really put it to good use.0

I can't comment on the weight gain but I wouldn't worry about it. The fact is you'll slowly get fitter, you will become more toned and you'll feel better for it. Don't obsess about the weight. Last year i was cycling 50 miles a week over the summer. My weight at the beginning was 11stone 2 lbs and my fat content 34% and the end still 11stone 2lbs but my fat content had gone down to 26% and I looked a lot thinner even though my weight was exactly the same. And as a wierd 'curse' of exercise I eat all the time!! but I'm burning it off. I turn into a flump over the winter because I dont't get out much, I hate the idea of the gym and I still eat loads!!:o:D
Trying - get out there in the sunshine!!! early mornings are good, get up and go, there's no excuse then.
gscrym - perfect time to start. All those bank holidays and nice sunny days to get out.0 -

Sorry i've not been on here for a while. I never got out for around 2 1/2 weeks as we were all poorly at one time or another so i went right back to the start when i felt well enough to. I've been using a treadmill for the last week or so but it feels so different to road running, i seem to be able to jog on a treadmill for much longer without getting breathless. On the road i'm just on to week 2 but can easily jog for 10 mins prob even longer on treadmill. Not sure whether this is usual, my friend said she can normally jog for longer on treadmill too. Anyways i suppose any form of jogging is better than none right? Hoping to get back to road running once kids are back at school, till then i'll be on the treadmill.£387.39/£196.46
