I have my ipod (nano) on a armband - if its too warm to waer a little fleece gilet that I have I have a wristband with a zip compartment for my keys. I can't run and carry water - never have been able to.

Also, running early in the morning helps as only other runners and dogwalkers about then so much less embarrassment.

Welcome BettyB, I take my keys, ipod and my phone (which maps my run) in a purse that I loop around my wrist and carry in my hand - i probably should invest in an armband but this works for me for the moment.
I can't carry water either, and the run is only 1/2 hour so usually fine to wait til get home.
I agree with skintlass about morning runs, I usually don't see so many people - and the ones you do see usually seem encouraging.
Can you walk to the park and then start your run after you have passed the schools/builders?

    Thanks

the purse idea is good - the 1 time i went for a run I clipped my ipod to my trousers but it's heavy and kept making my trousers fall down!
I will try to find a small bag I can use instead. Really dont want to have to use a backpack or something as cumbersome.

skintlass and you are both right about the water, not really necessary. I will just remember to drink before I leave!

thinking about it, I can do the 5 min warm up walk past the builders and then run down the road to the park. wish my road wasn't on a big hill tho - it's going to make the return journey harder!!

Just slow right down , even if it feels like you are crawling - it's all about building up your stamina to be able to run longer, not faster.

I sometimes end my runs on an uphill slope too (by accident!!)

I have my phone in one hand and my keys in the other. another early morning person here, or lateish evening - that's another time when it can be relatively quiet, depending where you live of course.

    Evening,
Can I join please, Im on wk 5 :j
Hubby got me an ipod shuffle today (anniversary) he's put the podcast on it, its so much easier than checking the time.
Though its a tad like lift music.

    Keep going everyone
    Smile make them wonder
  • Evening everyone!

I finally got off my a*se and did week 5! It felt good after putting it off for a week. I've got back into it.

Hi Betty and Silkstrut! :D Hope you enjoy it! I am, although, I keep falling off the wagon every now and then. I occasionally lose my motivation and have to find it again (don't we all!).

Now its getting light I can't wait to get out into the park for a run.

    Keep on running people.

Well done Sarsie, Crumblepie and Alliwantistosave and everyone else who managed to get out. x

  • Managed run 3 of week 3 today :D Can't believe how quickly these seem to be going.
Is it wrong of me to not care what people think ? I just get going headphones in and don't worry about the people I pass I just think of the nice shower at the end (and the feeling of achievement of course)

Welcome silkstrut well done on being on week 5 already :T

Well done on getting back on the wagon Trying Really Hard hope you manage to get out to the park soon
    Restarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed

Need to loose 25lb / 3lb lost so far :(
  • Woohoo. Week 5 run 2 done today. :j

Alliwantistosave - Woohoo for you too. :j

Really not looking forward to the next one - the dreaded 20 minute run! However, reading that people managed to do it and survive on this very board, I will give it a go on Friday or Sunday.

Silkstrut - very much agree on the lift music notion. I had to swap podcasts to get through it without laughing and nearly killing myself from breathlessness.

  • Hi again Ladies,

Envious of everyone on week 4/5. I eventually got around to doing Week 1, Run 2 today - much easier than my first run. Helped along by a Ricky Gervais/Karl Pilkington podcast. Looking forward to my next run! :D:D
