Hi all, I'm another newbie. I haven't done run 1 yet, planning on doing that tomorrow. I've got the app ready although there were a few to choose from!! I've seen a few people mention music, is there music on the app?"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Hi Tigzem! Yay for catching the running bug to you (and all the new comers!).
A couple of sites have music you can download as an itunes podcast. The music comes with "signals" to tell you when to run/walk. I find this great as I can cover up the timer on the treadmill so I don't clock watch. I find the time flies this way.
There are quite a few free podcasts on Itunes but I got mine from the couch to 5k website which has links to Robert Ulley and DJBeatsmith (personally I prefer the second even though I don't really like that type of dance music). I have also found that some of my own music fits the beats I run to so I use that as well.
Glaswegen - I run at the gym mainly. However, now its starting to get light I will go to the local park and run. I did this last year a couple of times and enjoyed it. I felt better building up in the gym. However, its your preference. Even running round the "block" is good as its free.
LMDCD - Well done on your first run. In fact, well done to all those who have run this week. Nickynoo - Hope your little one is feeling better.
I haven't run since Monday. I have done body attack, LBT and Step this week though (Step will NEVER be done again. Just couldn't get over the stupid moves that seemed to be done. I am not co-ordinated enough for that stuff). However, run tomorrow. Looking forward to it actually as all I have done this week is eat and I need some exercise!.
Right - off to bed. I am so tired for some reason. Oooo, 22:10 on a Saturday night, what a crazy life I lead. :wave:How long til pay day?

Hi all, hoping for some advice! I've been running without podcasts for 6-8 weeks and running 5k... Well, crawling it at times. My time's not getting any faster now, so I thought I'd download the podcasts to help, but I don't know where to start with them as I'm not a true couch to 5k, more a 5k improver. What would you suggest?0

There are other podcasts for increasing distance to 10k that may help as you're supposed to keep to the beat of the music. Week 6 run 1 done by me today :-).Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

I run on the streets, but I usually run around 7-7.30 and there don't seem to be loads of people around. Also (in my mind!!) those who are around appear impressed by the fact I'm out and running
I've only ever had one person make fun of me and since they were drunk at 7 in the morning, I tried not to take it to heart :-/ Tbh, no one really seems to care/notice that I'm beet red and puffing
Made it out this morning, did Week 4 Run 2, was quite drizzly, and struggled a bit on the last 5 mins (it seemed to take a bit longer than that!) and managed to time the end with an uphill run which was quite silly really - legs are very tired now, but glad it's done. Number 3 will be on Tuesday morning. Doing some study and then off to the pub for a nice Sunday lunch as reward

I can answer my own question, and it might help others in my situation. Start at the beginning! I went for week 2 and struggled quite a lot.
Something else I found was that Robert Ulley's podcasts were timed, and I found them finishing at 3k. I've been running a full 5k so was only just over halfway through my route. I took advantage of the end of the week 2 (phew) to start the week1 until I got home. I prefer to run on distance than time.. But it's horses for courses, so I'll mix and match to suit my route.Hi all, hoping for some advice! I've been running without podcasts for 6-8 weeks and running 5k... Well, crawling it at times. I run on a cycle path that quite handily links two villages and there and back is 5k. I'm now on week 5 of my plan, I was out really early this morning and met one dog walker - luckily for me on the walk part as my face also goes a nice shade of red.0

Well I got out yesterday morning to do my 1st run, was hard but I did it! The app i've got is fab, but i didn't have music as I had DD with me so felt I had to be aware of her, in fact she will be with me most times on her scooter. I made sure I stretched when I got back especially my calves and I don't ache this morning which was a big surprise.
So run 2 is tomorrow night..."Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
