    Hello!
Bless me. I failed again, mostly myself. I'm going out now to have my first run.
  • Hi,

I started the C25k challenge today. Am hoping to lose weight and run the race for life.
Just wondering if anybody goes to the gym on their non-running days?

I was thinking off classes or maybe bike and strength training.

I just came back from my first run. I'm not even very tired. Should I run more? Steady, I've just started.

    Hello!

I run Tues, Thurs and Sun. On Wed and Sat/Sunday I do classes or go to the gym. My other half is training for a run I think so I tend to go along with him to motivate me. That is, when I've not been an idiot and injured myself. Do what motivates you though. I love Body Attack and the cross trainer combined with strength training on my legs. Although, still banned from Body Attack due to the aforementioned injury. :o

Also, for the benefit of Alliwantistosave, some good advice there from Belfastgirl. Re injuring yourself, do not take my injury as an example of injuring yourself getting fit, take it as an example of being stupid. i.e running for the tram in boots BEFORE going to the gym for a run. Exercise isn't bad for you. Honest! :p

Well done to all those trying it out. I'm only on week 4 and I'm loving it. Its good that people like Belfastgirl come back and say they've done it and are doing it again. Very useful. :D

I'd say don't be tempted to skip weeks but it depends on you. I felt fine after my first run. The next day though my legs felt reminiscent of jelly. See how you feel tomorrow and judge it from there. Its all personal preference.

Just got back from week 5 run 3. Then took the dog for a walk for about the same distance and have body pump tonight :-). I am on a day off though. As to the question about running and other classes/gym I say build up to it.

How is Body Pump? I've been tempted but am scared that I can't even lift the weights, let alone get through an hours class (I have no upper body strength!) Can you start with really light, invisible style weights? :p

I cross trained week 4 run 2, as my foot was still hurting. I am hoping to be able to actually run it soon though. Surely my foot can't hurt for much longer. I will log that I have done it though as I still burnt the calories and endured it.

    Well done all.
