Hello newbie here, I am very unfit, can walk a lot but did go out last night for half hour and did a mix of power walking/jogging and some occasional running but could only do that part for about a min max:o Legs ache a bit today and it was too wet to go out again but guess I made a start. Have lost nearly 2 stone on Slimming World and need to lose 2-3 more, want to tone up too so need to introduce the fitness side.
Due to work can only go out evenings when it's dark so can't put my ipod on for safety reasons as all quiet side roads round here. Not downloaded the podcast - guessing thats on itunes? Might order a walking/running book Ive seen on Amazon - Walking for fitness.
My plan is once its lighter in a few months to start walking/jogging home with a long term aim of running home as it's about 3 miles, again risky until lighter nights as main road but not pavement for all of the route. In the meantime I want to build up fitness so I don't end up in a heap when I start the 3 miles form work!
Will have a more detailed look at the thread soon, anyone know of there is a printed version of a good couch potato to 5k plan?
Thanks:)Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

I failed miserably. This week I supossed to finish challenge, I've done ... nothing:o
I'll start tommorow. Again.
I failed to do run 3 on Sunday so I'm with you on that one.
Back on it again though for this week. I have a gym session booked too so should get a renewed programme for the days I don't run.
Skintlass - you're right. Getting out the door was my problem on Sunday. What with the gales and the drizzle. Terrible excuse I know.
AlisonT - well done on your weight loss. I've only been doing the C25K for a week (although been planning it for months now) and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will come along but I found c25k.com a good site as it cool runnings. Both have printable guides. I also found a treadmill one for when I go to the gym to run. I hope that helps. How long til pay day?

Well it's taken 2 weeks rather than 1 but I've completed Week 1 - there really was too much rain last week to get out very much!
Well done to everyone who did!0 -

I'm being very naughty and skipping some runs as I found week 1 too easy so jumped to week 2, then went out at the weekend with a freind and ran longer than planned, so I'm now doing week 3. However I had a carp night last night - slipped on n icy curb and went flat on my face - grazed my knee and hands just as I was starting my first run
. Only managed 8 of my 10 run/ walks after that. Rest day today then back out tomorrow - knee looks bruised but feels okish!
Am signing up for a 10k in may and enjoying buying myself some kit (all in the sales so very mse)!!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

hi all,
i need to join this group too! on week two at the moment and really enjoying it. I tried something like this a few years ago but fizzled out... will do better in 2011!
this time i'm doing C25K with a friend. we have a bet on - if one of us doesn't show up for a run she has to pay the other £25. so far its working a treat! i can't recommend enough how much more motivating it is doing this with a friend.0 -
3rd time through of week 5 run 2, not looking forward to next week run 3.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0
