Hello everyone:wave:
Just thought I would pop in and say hello to some old and some new friends. Just a bit of encouragement really. I started this last February. I found it really tough for weeks and after the first run I thought I might die and could not walk up the stairs for days:o There were good weeks and bad weeks. Sometimes it felt like I was going backwards and at other times it felt like the best feeling in the world. I got to the end and am now running 50 minutes at a time.:D
I am now contributing on the Martins Money saving mavericks thread but still keep reading this.
Just wanted to say I know it's a cliche but if I can do it nearly anybody can.
Good luck everybody and keep up the good work.:AEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
I did runs 1 and 2 of week 1 but found them a bit easy so jumped into week 2 run 1 - owch! However I managed it without dying - been runnning on the streets as its dark when I get home from work but hoping to get out into the woods this weekend and run in the countryside!
Been using hubby iphone so treated myself to my own (or rather used this as an excuse to get one...) so I HAVE to keep going now!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Hi guys, haven't read through the whole thread as I've just not got time at the mo' but wanted to gauge opinion on something.
How possible (or completely foolish!) would it be for a 40 something, unfit, overweight couch potato to sign up for a 5k run which is being held in 7 weeks? Have I got any hope of getting fit enough in that time bearing in mind I can literally barely run for a whole minute at the moment.Herman - MP for all!0 -
If your a couple of stone overweight with no other health issues then I think you could do it, if your morbidly obese then you might want to check with your doctor. If it's the former then download the podcasts and start with week 1, day 1 today and I bet you'll be amazed at how long you can run for in 7 weeks time.Snootchie Bootchies!0
