  • Ah well confession time:o I was doing about 8K on the G28k programme. Then I went on my dream holiday to Borneo for 4 weeks. Came back with a tummy bug and a lack of motivation and am only just dragging myself back out. I also have a change in hours and am only managing to run twice a week. I cannot face running in the evening though I did do a fast walk in the evening last week. I did week one of the G28k the first week. Week 4 last week and week 5 this week. Surprisingly I hadn't gone as far backwards as I thought I would have done, so there is hope for everyone who has had a gap over the summer. I think I am doing about 6K but that includes the warm up walk and three one minute intervals. I know they are very short intervals but psychologically they are great. So this morning I did 4 11 minute runs with a one minute gap imbetween.:)
I used to belong to a gym but I am afraid I could never be bothered to go. I liked the c25k because I could leave from my front door and be back in half an hour. Thats a bit why I am not sure how far I will ever progress because I am quite short on time. Already I have to have a spare hour to get started.
    How is Cardiff????

ok, so since subscribing to the thread I've not been out running!

I'm a bit confused with the podcasts, how do you know how far you've run?

I've been running/slowly jogging for about 30minutes. So thought about starting on the final week of couch to 5k and depending on how I find it will depend on which week I start (week 1 or week2) on the gateway to 8k.

Anyone any suggestions based on what they do?

I used to be fairly fit but aren't any more and want to do this for fitness and to loose weight! Has anyone found that they loose weight with running?
  • jenny_f. the only way to know how far you have run is to have something that measures your route. Some people use map my run others like me have heart monitors with attachments that can measure it for you. I think the podcasts are assuming that if you run at a certain rate that is how far you will have gone and they seem to be reasonably accurate. If you can jog for 30 minutes that is basically the end of C25K. The G28K is back to intervals.(Only 1 minute walks mind) and is designed to increase your stamina so that you end up running for 50 minutes without stopping. It might be best to try one of those and then either go harder or easier depending on how you find it. The main thing is to get out there.:)

I'm jealous - And and Dec are N-E stars :-) and they weren't there when I did the GNR. Hope you enjoyed the day, the atmosphere is great and running under the tunnels and across the bridge with all the Oggies going was one of the highlights for me. Just come back from my 5k and think I need to start the gateway or I'm not going to push myself any further.
