Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

I am not going to move on yet - I want to do at least few more 30 min runs first! And maybe increase my speed... Besided, I am going on holiday very soon and I will be just happy to keep the current running times (if I manage to repeat it!!!).
Also, I did have an idea that ones I finish the final week, I could start from the beginning and do it at faster speeds. For example, I am running at 7.5 km/h now, but could start with week 1 and do it at 10 or maybe even 11km/h, and build up my speed that way. Do any of you have any tips how to get 'up to speed' without falling over on the treadmill?
I do find it less motivating doing one long run instead of a few shorter ones, but I do have a reason for doing them (loose weight to get IVF), so I just keep repeating that to myself.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Thanks skintlass but how do I make sure they are the right length of time? (sorry novice here:o) and could I add voice messages saying thinks like you are doing really good keep going etc etc.
69chick the app sounds good too. Do you know if they do one for the gateway to 8k which is the programme I am following now? If I get a chance I will have a look later. Talking of which, this programme goes back to intervals. Although the intervals are only 1 minute at a time.(This goes very quickly but psychologically it feels better.) Sometimes I make it through one interval at a time. Just 11 minutes ,then just 11 minutes etc etc. You could always try it and see.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -

So where is everybody??????????
Bad nights sleep last night as loud music from a party meant we could not have our windows open. Then they let of loads of fireworks which spooked the dogs meaning they had to come upstairs with me.(They are not allowed upstairs normally but everyone got fed up of having to go down and cuddle them) Then they both snored very loudly for the entire night:eek: I would not mind but there are fields behind our house. After 3 fields is the river and then over the river is where the music was coming from so how loud was it!!!!
Rant over. Suffice to say I was not expecting much from myself this morning. However I ran three 12 minute intervals and then after a further 4 minutes running I was at my front door. I was going to keep running around the block but I did not think the neighbours were ready for this.:o Anyway this means I am going to have to increase my route somehow. I think tomorrow I might try and walk out a longer route . Iwas pleased with todays run.
Good luck to everyone who is running today. It's still very hot out there.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
I didn't get up early and I did boil - its very hot out there. I did however manage to do 5.1k :j:j:j:j. It's not much further than I did last Sunday but feels like such a big hurdle to have finally done the distance even if it did take me 40mins. I need to work on improving my speed now. My plan is to do 5k twice a week during the week and longer runs on a Sunday. To do that I need to really be running 5k in 30-35 mins. I'll get there but I wouldn't have come this far if it hadn't been for this thread. Seriously guys you'va ll kept me going when I didn't think I could so :T:T:T:T to you all.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Teachergirl I feel for you - that happened to me last Sunday. As for your questions about itunes. It will tell you how long your mix is but as for adding your own voice you'd need some audio software I think.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Thanks skintlass. I was thinking, as I listened to djbeatsmith. How can he make "move it push it shake it" last for 12 minutes? but he did. I felt quite demented as I listened to it. Not exactly sing along music but I guess I did run to the beat.
Having a few problems with charging my ipod touch at the moment because my PC keeps freezing. (have cleaned it's registry and defraged in the hope of saving a repair bill.) I had a docking station and plug for my old generation ipod so I could charge it in the wall but it does not seem to work for my touch...more frustration:mad:Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Oh and well done on your run. Your body has to work even harder to run in this heat so you are doing very well.:j:j:jEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

Managed to complete W6R3 this morning. DH came with me, so did it without the podcast. He was keeping up with me while only walking with an occasional jog - I told him I went very very slowly! Bless him, he did encourage me and it was lovely to have company for once. Jogged 26 mins without stopping :j and then we continued on round the lake for another half hour doing a couple of 2 minute faster runs and walks. Stopped at the coffee van for a tasty bacon roll
I think I might take him again next week!
It is really quiet in here lately, must be the heat, i know I really struggled earlier in the week with just 10 minutes. Good luck everyone and keep going.0 -
Week 3 run 1 done today - well this afternoon after I'd been shopping and got home from the cinema. Bloody nice it was running with everyone watching the footy. Thought I was going to give in on the 2nd 3min run but I didn't - I can now run for 3 mins! I know it's not a lot but it's an achievement for a blob!** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
