Right. Have made the decision to up my running. 3 times a week is doing wonders for my fitness levels, but I don't seem to be shifting any weight/getting an smaller. So I am planning to increase it to 4 times a week, till I have finished this program and then to 5 times a week after that.

I have to walk my dog every day anyway, so might as well run.

    hi all
although I have been a browser on the site for a long while, this is my first post,
I have this week just started my training routine up again, I have got myself a treadmill, crosstrainer, punchbag, kettles and some free weights although I must add these have been gained over a few years!! 3 years ago I was pretty much a gym nut, training at least 15/20 hours a week and loved every second, my best bits were the treadmill and circuit training, but alas!!!! fast forward 3 years ( and 3 stone heavier!!) and hubby was taken ill and my time is spent caring for him. I started on the treadmill Monday with a routine of fast walk on 4 incline and 5.5 speed for 5 mins then run for 1 min ( speed of 8)and fast walk for 1 min. I have completed 3km every day , then do my stretches then onto my weights 2kg dumbbells I do lat, tricepts, punches and squats I try to do 30 of each then finish of with some crunches. but have to say im feeling pretty tired today, has anyone any advice for routines? and or buddying?, thanks all happy running.

I have been seriously slacking and not run at all since before Xmas. Excuses are numerous but I will try and get back to it in the coming week, weather permitting.

CupofChai I'm surprised sportswear designers don' think about people like us that need somewhere to put at least a key. I do have a couple of old tops with zippable pockets, one being a random old cheapo one that was clearly designed for holding an MP3 / i-pod mini or suchlike but have struggled to find anything similar.

Although I would never have thought of wearing it this way around, I got something very similar to this waist belt which just about holds my i-pod, car key and a tissue:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Running-Audio-Waist-Phone-Holder/dp/B005J2L3M8/ref=sr_1_4?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1389342422&sr=1-4

It did get on my nerves though and I had to pull it in as tight as a tight thing so that it didn't bounce around and cause friction. I found it added a further level of irritation to my 'itchy leg' thing.

I now have an armband for my i-pod, which still often leaves me with a dilemma of what to do with my rather bulky (flick knife style) car key - so if I don't have one of my tops available it often gets securely tied in a double bow to the drawstring of my leggings and tucked into the waistband for added security.

I use a money belt. I found that unlike the waist pack I bought, it doesn't flap around.

I also use a shoe wallet - this clips on to your shoe laces. Can only get my house key and earphones in there mind.

Carrying an inhaler around is a pain - there's a bulge if I put it in my money belt.

You do need to give your body some recovery time too - will you be doing 2 days/3days split?

Don't you worry! Strength training will also be incorporated into my regime.

Instead of splitting in by 7 days I was literally just going to run every other day. so I always have a recover day between runs. good idea?

I'm pretty much doing this right now. But, I have been running for about 2.5 years now. (How the time flies!)

I know I should have had a rest day. But I was awake at 5 and I ordered a wedding dress yesterday so I did w6r1 today. Definitely resting tomorrow. But I really focused on speed today and the stats look good. I think I slow too much during the walks .

Starting strength training tomorrow so will see what programs I can follow online. Any recommendations?
