Thanks! and well done you, don't give up - the improvement you see after each run is amazing, and so motivating.
Completed W8R1 today, amazing. I feel the need for a rest day now, but looking forward to my next run on Saturday.0 -
Yay Gonzo, good for you. Won't be long now until you're doing 30 minutes!
I'm still having trouble going out. It's not so much thinking I don't have the time or I can't do the whole thing, once I'm out I'm ok. It's getting myself out there in the first place. I'm wondering if I'm just fed up of going out in the dark and cold, and because it's dark and cold I just want to hibernate indoors instead.0 -
Chai - I know exactly how you feel, It was such an effort to drag myself out on Thursday morning, but once I was out it was fine. It helps that I have no go out no matter what as my dog would drive me INSANE if he didn't get atleast a walk.
I am planning a 30 minute run for Sunday, I'm pretty sure I can manage it, my recover is really quick after the 28 so I can keep going.
I've been looking at the 5 - 10k training plan. Not looking forward to having to go out even earlier to fit in 1hrs worth of intervals!0 -

I love the "Sleep in your running clothes" idea if I actually could get my !!! out of bed in the morning but I know that will never happen. I struggle to get up around 9am...which is a worry as I start work at 8.30am (luckily as I work from home, what my employers don't know won't hurt them!).
If I ever get enough motivation to go to the gym in the morning, I may just try this!0 -
Yeahh don't think my OH would be too impressed with me sleeping in my running gear!
I have done it!! I ran for 30 minutes!!0 -
Hello everyone, new here!
I started this programme a couple of weeks ago but find it quite hard to keep up the motivation. All your success stories are inspiring though! Really hope to complete it...one day :-)0 -
Good to have seen this. I ran for a while during summer/ autumn last year, did some Parkruns but was never fit enough to complete the full 5K without walking and my times were between 42 and 45 minutes. Now without having done any running for months I dread to think what my time would be now! It's encouraging to see all these runners on this thread though
. One thing that is stopping me running at this time of year is the dark mornings and evenings - I'm afraid of falling over and hurting my ankles (which are weak to begin with).

Welcome to the newbies!
Tonight I very cleverly and MSE-ey used a voucher for a free trial at a local gym and used the treadmill instead of avoiding going out in the pouring freezing rain. I found out that I ran at about 6.5km/h (must do better!), and I did 5km of this which took about 47 minutes (IMO awful, again must improve). However I could have carried on and run for an hour, only I'd set the 5km as a distance goal on the treadmill and the stupid thing decided it would stop once I got to that! I found the treadmill seemed slightly easier than running outdoors, and that watching subtitled quiz shows along with listening to my music helped. I started trying to answer the questions and it took my mind off how knackered I was, haha.
Successfully avoided taking out membership as well. I might be able to get another free trial voucher for a different nearby gym so I'll see about using that another time to see if I've improved from what I did tonight.0 -

I love using the treadmill so I can log random bits of numbers on spreadsheets.
I must say - seeing you did 6.5kph has made me feel so much better. I had a feeling I was running sooo much slower than what I should be and I feel rubbish going at that speed when people on the next treadmill and doing 10-12kph. I have managed to get up to 6.8 but going back to 6.5 next week for my 2 minute runs. Still a long way to go!0
