Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

I'm feeling quite motivated to run this evening but the weather keeps chopping and changing! I need to walk the dog any way, so may as well run right?0

That's W1R3 done. Being a bit of a spreadsheet geek and tracking all the distances and calories burned, average speed and based on the distance, how long it would take to do a 5km run.
Not sure I'll be able to do a full week of Week 2 runs so will see how the first one goes and will possibly just do what I can, even if it's just week 1 again.
On a negative...because it was dark in the gym tonight, saw my reflection in the window while I was running - eurgh! Not a pretty sight at all!!!0 -
Just back from W2R1 - this was the same point I got to a couple of weeks ago when my knees decided to inflict a ridiculous amount of pain on me.
I managed to get through what I should have albeit VERY slow running (6.2km/h) but I think although I did it, it was probably a bit too much so going to go back and do another week of Week 1.
I've decided to start the 30 Day Shred workout so will do that tonight. I also took the plunge and weighed myself AND took pictures - in the hope I'll have some great "after" pictures soon enough.
I've also treated myself to some clothes (they were in the sale!) in a size 14 (I'm currently in size 18s!) and also a fitness monitor I can use to monitor calories and heart rate more accurately - oh, and a set of weights as well.
Feel like this is something I need to be doing long term and not just doing it to lose the weight then stop it all and the weight just creeps back on again like it did years ago.
Well, that's it from me! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!0 -

You should come to my gym. There's a wall of mirrors facing the treadmills so I have to keep looking at my face getting redder and redder :rotfl:.
I ran outside again this morning but only for 30 minutes as I was feeling a bit hungover. Think I was going faster than usual though and felt quite worn out by the end. I've been really lucky with the weather as it seems to be dry every Sunday morning and it's not got below freezing yet. Much prefer outside to indoors now.0 -
W4R3 done yesterday, W5 starts tomorrow. It was a tough run yesterday, but I did it, and I feel so good after my run. Not sure how I will get on with a 20 min run at the end of the week. Might leave the dog at home for that one so I can focus just on running.0

Hello all,
I did the couch to 5k a couple of years ago but found it got very challenging after a few weeks and kept repeating one particular week. I can't remember which one. I kept it up for a few months but then got bored and consequently gave up.
I have downloaded the NHS podcast (I had the American chappie last time) and am going to give it another go. I may do the first one this afternoon if the rain holds off. Hopefully writing on here will motivate me!0 -

Any chance that's the Edinburgh Leisure Meadowbank one?? I used to go there years ago and that's what they have. Think that must've been when I'd lost a tonne of weight so didn't bother me as much!
I go to Pure Gym at Ocean Terminal now and try and go at the quietest time possible in order to get one of the treadmills which are in front of a wall - there's nothing worse than getting one when you know there are people behind you and can see you fat a**e trying to run!0 -
Week 6 Run 3 done, very tough going as it's running for 22 minutes. I slowed right down towards the end but managed to keep going just about with gritted teeth!
I've signed up for this, might be worth a look

W5R1 done! It was fine, I was tried by the end of it, and I fell down the stairs this morning so was already aching! Feel quite positive about the 8 minute runs which I'll do Thursday.
Learnt today that running in the rain is fun and quite refreshing.0 -

I love running in the rain. Went out on Sunday and got absolutely soaked. It was good though.
And well done everyone! It won't be long before you're signing up for your first race.
