Running is so much harder when it's really windy!

Well I didn't manage to run today, the pets kept me up ALL night (seriously, never having kids. ever.) so I just couldn't face my 5 am wake up call. So I went for 1hr walk instead.

I'm going to try to fit it in either tomorrow or Saturday, if not, I'll do what I did last week and move onto week 5 on Sunday as planned.
  • Hello everyone!

I've been lurking for a few days but thought I'd take the plunge. I've been doing the C25k using an app on my phone, and have finished week 3. Thing is I've looked at what week 4 entails and I'm not sure I can do a 5 min run :( I found week 3 really hard though I did complete each session.

Should I do week 3 again or should I attempt Wk4R1 and see what to do if I fail?

There's nothing wrong with repeating a week if you have to.

Hi Smarternotharder. Well done on taking the plunge. If I was you I would have another couple of attempts at week 3 until you feel more comfortable with it then move up to week 4. I'm sure I took about 6 or 7 weeks to get to the end of week 4. Just listen to your body.

Thank you both :) I think I will do this, I just didn't realise that this was ok. Merry Christmas!

I think I've done week 1 of the NHS podcast about 5 times, months apart, and during those times of having a go at it, I've repeated week 1 over two and (once) even three consecutive weeks.

Last time I ran was 18 months ago, all road running, and hurt my shins. I had gait analysis done at a specialist performance shop and bought the shoes they recommended, which I never really found very comfortable. Experimenting with different socks helped a bit. I've been wearing these shoes all day at work recently, since my usual Karrimor trainers fell apart, and they're more comfortable now I'm more used to them, though work doesn't involve running, just being on my feet all day. And I'm well over a stone heavier than when I last ran. And older and creakier, and tired. Can't change the old bit, but the rest has to improve with some determined effort.

In 2014 that stone is going to go, and ideally another one too, and the C25K is going to start me off again. Let's hope for kind weather. I don't mind the music on it, the motivational talking in between runs is helpful. Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone. I've attempted this twice before and got to the week four/five stage but stopped for some reason or another. Hoping to start again on saturday as an early new year's resolution. Hoping to actually finish it this time. Good luck to everyone doing this!

  • It's getting very quiet in here. I hope we're not all slacking off just because its Christmas :D.

I've been a bit lazy recently but managed to drag myself out this morning as it's a very nice day here. The first kilometre almost killed me - it felt like I'd never run before. After that I got into a rhythm and managed to keep going for 5km. I really want to start increasing the distance over the next few months but today I couldn't have done much more.

Welcome to all the newcomers. I wish you all well and have to say it is worth the effort. I've got so much more energy nowadays and just feel better overall.
