Well done Calley and thanks all for the warm welcome. Feel a bit like I've failed this weekend as haven't been out to do the third run if week one as feeling a little under the weather.

May try and squash it in Tomorrow evening perhaps.

Managed to go out on Friday, I thought I'd just take it easy and it was ok though I was slower than usual. It didn't go very well, I had to stop to tie my shoelace, and then when I tried to un-pause the podcast to carry on I somehow completely lost my place. So I put on some of my own music and just ran the usual route up until the place where I'd usually finish.

I'm going to go again tonight and try to go a little faster, and will use my music again for a change to see how that goes, as I quite liked it and felt it was helping me along when I used it on Friday.

I always listen to my own music and my C25k app just interrupts and tells me what to do and then my music continues. I find it easier.

Was in London yesterday and wore new boots, and boy do I have blisters! So hopefully plasters will be okay and I can still do my run tomorrow as planned.

Well done everyone. I feel like a bit of a slacker having given over running in favour of Christmas shopping this weekend; it's going to be so hard to maintain the three times a week regime over the coming few weeks. :(

Don't worry about it Kiwisaver. If you've too much on to be able to keep up the 3 times a week for a couple of weeks, just do what you can because something is better than nothing. Then you can get back into the 3 times once everything's settled back into more of a routine.

I say that, but I'd worry about not having done the 3 times too!

W3R2 completed today! Going to attempt run 3 tomorrow, possibly. I'm very tired, so might not get out of bed, but I don't feel it to be challenging me as much as I think it should, so want to get onto week 4.

Well I didn't get up for my run today - I just haven't got it in me to do 2 x days in a row, unless I go after work.... but it will be cold... So will run tomorrow. I think I'm going to go straight into week 4 and skip week 3 run 3. Will see how that goes....
  • I have read this thread on and off for a while, and been inspired, and want to actually join in with some running instead of just reading! LOL

I am now on annual leave for 2 weeks, so its a good time for me to get on and start.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get started without a podcast, as I dont have a smartfone or mp3.

    Thanks

Good on you Liberty, it would be a bit tricky to time yourselfbut if you're keen to get out there and have a go at something rather than doing nothing, then I reckon you could have a go at counting paces, or set yourself some little targets of intervals to run or just put some trainers on and do whatever you can.

Basically for week one on the podcast you would:
Walk at a brisk pace to warm up for 5 minutes
    Run for 60 seconds
    Walk for 90 seconds
    Run for 60 seconds
Walk for 90 seconds and then repeat these intervals of 60 and 90 seconds until you have run 8 x 60 seconds in total.
Finally walk for 5 more minutes to cool down.

My first few times I just set my sight on a spot in the distance: a particular car or lamppost which I would aim to run to and then walk until breath was back and then run another section. You can play about with it and set your own little targets. When you first start this sixty seconds can seem like a mighty long time.

I haven't been out at all this past week.

    Week 4 run1 complete! I feel amazing.

Iy was tough, but do-able. I probably found it tougher because I only ran twice last week. But wow the progress is amazing. I have achieved so much!
