Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

Hi all,
Not been on for ages. Had a stupidly hectic week at work last week and only had time to run once. BUT, I have good news.
I finally hit the 5K mark on Monday morning coming in at 26:57 so I'm very happyI've also decided I will aim for 10k but I'm in no hurry as my focus now is on increasing my speed.
A friend from Newcastle said I should go for the Great North Run next year but I told her not to get carried away! :rotfl:0 -
Cupofchai, I used to get blisters, a change of sports socks did wonders!
Everyone is doing so well, congrats to all those running over 20 mins!
I am sure I will get there eventually ;-)
I m having yet another week off, have a bug, pleasures of working in a school! Hope to be back to it next wk on wk 32019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -
Run 2 of week 3 completed last night.
I find the 2nd 3 minute run easier than the first - but I think this is because I know it is the last run!0 -
I've got run 3 of week 3 tonight, and I am not dead yet! Have I got a shock in store in week 4 or 5 then?
I didn't even know you could get special running socks, I'm just wearing my normal socks. If they're padded on the sole that won't help as the blisters are on the sides of my feet, not the soles. It's the same place on each foot so maybe it is the fit of my shoes.0 -
I've just bought 4 pairs of running socks from Sports Direct. On offer, 2 packs of 2 for £8 so thought I'd try them out.0

Week 7 run 1 done!
Slowed down the speed a bit and ran the whole thing non stop with no hanging on or struggling, amazed myself to be honest and I really enjoyed it!

Week 6 run 3 done (22 min run).
Upped the speed to 9kph  and pushed through the pain and horror of watching the seconds tick down soooo sloooowllyyyy.
Seriously, wasn't too bad and feel great having accomplished it.
As for socks, I like to use my motorbike socks as they are quite tight and supportive and have no seams.0 -
Oo I might try my Sealskinz socks if I get foot issues - no seams! Good thinking Richard!
Last run of week 2 tomorrow

I know this technically is not C25K but I've just ran 2.5k because I could  when I started this I could barely do 1 min jogging and now I can do 20 before I start to feel it. Stick with it peeps - it really works! Admittedly I'm still slow but at least I'm moving0

Well done Chickvic, it's great to see you've come so far and sprinted way ahead of me now!
I'm gutted with myself really for not seeing this through and all things seem to have conspired against me lately to getting back with the programme but I'm determined to get back on it properly this week.
After lashing storms, thunderbolts and lightening yesterday we have a bright hot sunny day today. A bit too warm for running for my liking so I might try something easyish later this afternoon, if not have to wait until Tuesday evening. Not sure where to pick up again - I might take a look at week 4.
ETA. Ah well, at least I went out and tried. :rotfl:
It was however an epic fail, embarrassed to say that week 4 was a tad ambitious and I wimped out half way. Had a return of an issue I had as a 'beginner'; the chronic itchy leg syndrome. Apparently a sign of poor fitness and inactivity - so perhaps I'll backsquad myself further to week 3 on Tuesday.Mortgage
