I'm going to start week 3 tomorrow. I have 2 blisters, any tips to stop this? I think my shoes fit fine, it's just on my last run or so I've found a certain place that seems to rub a bit.
  • Bit of Vaseline over them before you jog?

I get between the legs chaffing, petroleum jelly before I run has solved it though. I got a big tub for 89p from bodycare, if that helps you :)

I have just completed Week 1 run 3 and am so chuffed I did it. However, I'm still only jogging on the spot, due to the weather I am yet to venture out yet.

I see a lot of you are using a treadmill, I am tempted with this as I think I would feel it is a lot less like cheating. Although I am aware of the :money: side of it all, and wouldn't want this to be a fad.

I'll start week 2 on Thursday and go from there.

I find this thread very motivating, well done to everyone!

I guess the blisters are on your feet?
In which case, I've always found that wearing two pairs of socks greatly reduces the number of blisters I get...

Thanks all, yes they're on my feet haha. I don't have any Vaseline in but I'll try with a bit of thick hand cream or lip balm until I can get some.
  • Did Week 2 Run 1 last night and coped pretty well - hoping I can continue to do so :)

  • Did my first week 3 run last night.

I still can't believe that 2 weeks ago I was just managing to run for 1 minute, now I can run for 3 without collapsing in a heap afterwards!!

So any people on week 1 or 2 that are finding it hard going at the moment, don't give up, it does it easier, I promise!!

If I can do it, then anyone can!

I just jogged for 22 mins  week 6 run 3. I am still classed as obese and if I can do it anyone really can ;) I had to slow down (run on a treadmill) but I jogged the whole time even the last 3 odd mins when I had stitch as well. I think some sort of monster rears its head because you get so determined to finish.

    Keep going everyone :D

Blisters - Are you using running socks? I bought some cheap ones from sports direct and touch wood I haven't suffered from blisters.

Treadmill - I bought a £200 one from amazon, a lot of money but it has been worth every penny. I felt more confident pushing myself on there, so I have been able to get back to running 5k in a decent time pretty quickly. I hated running outside at first because everyone used to stare at me! Also, childcare is never an issue, neither is the weather - it was really windy a couple of days ago so I used the treadmill instead of going out.

I'm off out for a 5k in a little while, I've actually got a watch now so I can time myself, I don't think I will be able to do it as fast as I do on the treadmill but it will be nice to compare times.

ETA - I did it in 27.51, my fastest time yet :) My 11 year old finally managed to run the whole 5k and he did it in 31 minutes, so proud of him! Just over 2 weeks until our 5k race, can't wait!
