Well done chickvic, how is everybody else doing? :jLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0

Just done Wk5 day 3, the dreaded 20 min run
.
Despite posting earlier that I "was looking forwards to the challenge", I was actually quite nervous and put it off a bit.
Good news is, it was relatively easy and I didn't feel like I was dying. :j
Well done everyone.0 -
I am a real beginner at C25K - have never run before and am 50+ (and vertically challenged). I am using a treadmill - what sort of speeds would be reasonable to set on the treadmill for brisk walking and the initial running?0

Hi Flugelhorn, I walk at 5.5k and run at 6.5k on the treadmill. When I started I used to run at 7.4k and it was too fast really which put me off for a couple of weeks! See what is best for you would be my advice but don't go too fast!
Shall be back in the gym this wk so wk 2 run 3 on tues and wk 3 run 1 on thurs - hopefully!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -

Thanks Eyeore, suspect yours are the sort of speeds I should use.
I actually did 4.8 and 5.6 kmh ... sounds pretty feeble and I used to be able walk at 5.5 so even more feeble than it sounds
having said that I have got utterly pathetic if I tried to run in the past and at least I finished the podcast jogging along at those speeds -
Am determined to get going now - everyone at work did a 5k together and I had to give excuses about a painful knee... maybe next time0 -
I love reading this thread, it's really motivational
I did 5k on my treadmill tonight, managed to shave 30 seconds off my time and did it in 29.22.
I really wanted to go outside for a run but it's so windy that I took the easy option :rotfl:. My 11 year old did 4k which is the furthest he has run so far, really proud of him - he doesn't find it easy at all.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
*peeks in* hello, can I join please?
I just finished week 1 and it wasn't too bad - starting week 2 tomorrow

Just done week 6 run 2, am absolutely knackered! Found that harder than the longer run :doh:0

So did we chickvic, I thought the 20 minutes had been a fluke!
Well done everyone and welcome to the newbies, you can do it:j
Good to see you in here hbs xLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0
