I have just completed my first run from week 1. Was surprisingly easy too :D

My boyf (who is a proper gym bunny) even stopped his weight training to run next to me on the treadmill for a mile to cheer me on :p

I am so rubbish at running but am determined to get up to the 5k's... with help from you guys... such an inspirational thread :T

Hi everyone, can I join in? I did week 1 run 1 yesterday. Surprisingly do-able, although I was puffing and sweating, and when I got in I was purple in the face!

Luckily I don't really know anyone in the area around my house so it doesn't matter if people see me :D.

Kabazzzz - I'm rubbish at running but determined too!

Oooh cupofchai we've started at the same time!! I'm doing it in the gym rather than outside, don't quite have the confidence..

I plan to go out again tomorrow for run 2.

I used to be the same as you with regard to running outside. But I said to heck with it and went for it.

I saw a guy running yesterday afternoon while I was in the car and it made me think. Swap the positions round. You're out running and someone passes you in their car or you pass someone on the street. At the end of the day it's for a second and then you're gone.

Besides, if someone tries to take the mick, well it says a heck of a lot about them.

Chuff em! Run free!! :rotfl: haha now I have that Born Free tune in my head.

But it's your choice. Running anywhere is better than not running at all :D

I know what you mean 1940sgal but I'm not too fussed what I look like running, it's more the ability more than anything else. I'd like to be able to plan a route of a couple of k's and know that I'll be able to finish it and not collapse half way around!

I did week 1 run 2 last night, legs a bit achy today but in a good way.

I think I need to plan a route too, at the moment I'm sort of just running along the street until I get halfway through the podcast, then turning back. And I'm furious with where I live too, I seem to be at the top of a hill. So at the beginning of the run I can't help but go downhill, then near the end when I'm all knackered I have to run uphill!

Congrats on completing W1/R2. If you have a car, could you drive to somewhere to run on the flat, the local park etc. Or could you do the walk down the hill as the warm up and the walk back up the hill as the warm down and run around at the bottom of the hill, unless that's hilly too.
