I'm about to do week 1 run 3. I walk at 2.4 mph & run at 3.5 mph - is this ok? I don't think I can up either until I'm a bit fitter/weigh a bit less!0

Maybe do a run but if you don't feel up to the current one do one from a week or two back, that way you are still keeping the routine going but not making it quite so hard on yourself if you are not up to it.
Good luck let us no what how you get on.
Well I went swimming this morning and I feel a lot better. Don't feel as wheezy or fuzzy and my cough has abated a little. My problem is when I get a cold I always end up with a dry chesty cough more than anything else.
I'll run on Sunday morning now as that's my next day on the Army fitness plan and that's the long run day so I'll hopefully get week 6 run 3 done finally.
I know you're supposed to do the C25K 3 times a week but while I'm following this other plan I only have time to do it twice. But at least I'm still exercising 4 days out of 7 so it's swings and roundabouts I suppose.0 -

If that's what you can do then go for it!
I walk at 3.5 mph and run at 4.3 mph (6 kph and 7 kph) that works for me, I'm not worried about speeding up yet. I must add I have been walking on the treadmill for 3 months prior to starting so I think that's why I'm a bit faster than youI'm going to concentrate on the length of the run rather than the speed!

How do you know what speed you are walking and running at? Is it because you use a treadmill? I have an app on my phone but that just tells me average speed and doesn't separate it for the walk and run parts. I would be interested to find out what mine are.0

That's exactly what Laura (NHS Podcasts) recommends, she always says; 'It doesn't matter how slowly, just keep going' I think it's more about endurance and the length of time you keep going, rather than distance and speed.
I think once you build the stamina to run for a certain period of time then you can start to work on increasing the speed.Mortgage

Yes, I do C25K on the treadmill, there is no lycra stretchy enough to hold the wobbles in0 -

Yes, I'm on a treadmill - same as Chickvic re the lycra, lol. I'm a very big girl & look bloody silly running, but I'm doing it for me & I just know that I would not do it at all if I had to step outside the door. Plus I run when my daughter naps & can't really leave her in the house alone! :rotfl:0 -
I've just started couch to 5k; this is only my first week so finding it hard going but determined to get there.0

Week 1 run 1 done! So pleased, especially as I found out today that I'm at risk of diabetes and that my BMI is 27. Gave me a big shock and the kick I needed. Found it really hard about half way through but then it seemed to get easier. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
