Yay! Week 1 Run 2 done of Couch 2 5k - didn't feel like it, but made myself & felt good afterwards! 2 more runs this week (Fri & Sun) then on to Week 2

:T Well done. I am on wk2 I didn't find the jump that bad you run for longer but also get to walk in-between for longer as well. I am not looking forward to wk3 though (I really must stop looking ahead to see what the weeks ahead are)

just started week 5, I've noticed that run 3 this week is a 20 min jog which seems quite a leap from 8 mins, how did people do?

I never ever in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to run for 23 minutes, I assume you feel the same at the moment but if I can do it i'm sure you can, it just takes time.

I've never ever before in my life (and I'm 49) been able to run before, even at school.
:T Congratulations ms chocoholic great achievement at any age!

Bunny, the 20 minute was a struggle yet we managed it. You'll surprise yourself :)

We ran week 8 run 1 tonight, 28 minutes solid. We didn't find it any harder than the 25 minute runs really. I think I'm being to cautious speed wise. Going to speed up a little on Friday.

I don't run with music, I just look in to the trees. I might try running with it now we are running further.

Wow, welcome to all the new runners. I have been doing every other day three times a week as recommended and do yoga on the spare day.

I've been wondering if and at what stage had people started to notice any change in weight / shape.

My shape really changed around week 4-6. Dd has lost a steady 1-2lb a week with no change of diet.
I started to notice as my pants started getting looser around my bum :D

I've just done run one of week five and feel like five minutes at a time is manageable now and I didn't really struggle with the three times five minutes, so quite looking forward to trying 8 minutes. However, I do think that 20 minutes is a step too far for me and seems impossible at the moment, so I'll see how I go on Saturday if I manage run 2.

Fabulous, maybe I'll start to notice this week then!

Has anyone here run with a cold? I've started with one this week and I've got a bit of a dry tickly cough. I'm planning on going swimming in the morning but what about something as intense as running?

I ran with a cold, early on in the programme though, it wasn't a good look :P But I managed to complete it, if I didn't run that day, then it would have been another 3 days before I should've done it, and I knew I would never have done the run.
I felt like death though, if you know you'll pick it back up, have a rest, I know I'm very fickle with these things.

Pink Princess thanks, I'm hoping I do surprise myself.

Kiwi saver lets see if we live to tell the tale of the 20 min run

I think what bunny points out will be the same for me, if I stop for any reason (cold etc) I don't know if I will be able to start again.

Maybe do a run but if you don't feel up to the current one do one from a week or two back, that way you are still keeping the routine going but not making it quite so hard on yourself if you are not up to it.

Good luck let us no what how you get on.

Done week 2 run 1 - was ok, not as bad as I thought. Not being very speedy yet but I'd rather achieve at a slower pace than try to hard and injure myself/give up ;)
