Completed run three of week three today. It went really well and we are not worried about week four.

Week five is scary looking though.

Going to run next on Thursday night.

Well I did Day 1 of Week 3 today and really surprised myself running the full 3 minutes. But man oh man it didn't half hurt :o And I made the mistake of not taking any water with me like a wally. I won't do that again!

I'm dreading next week, can't imagine running for a full 5 minutes

Pink, well done to you and your dd, tell her she's far from alone in feeling like that!

I have week 3 to start on Thursday, I'm dreading the 3 mins, feel like I've only just got confident at 1 1/2 minutes of running.

Well done to everyone, keep it up

S'cuse me for barging in, I was trying to read the thread from the beginning but desperate to crack on and get some scores on the doors.

I've just started doing this, I've tried it before and never got past week one due to one thing or another. I did week 2 run 2 last night.

Same here Bunny I have had many attempts and given up due to wrong clothes, wrong shoes, itchy legs, too hard, useless headphones and all manner of other things that never seem to be right. I picked up i-pod and gear prepared to start again on Saturday and failed miserably at the running bits of Week 1 Run 1, tried again on Monday running my own pace at intervals when I felt like it or at points where nobody was going to see. I still struggled with having to hold onto my i-pod as it was bouncing around in my pocket.

Anyway I was thinking I somehow need to figure a way to build up to Week 1 C25K as it is still too much for me and I always find reasons not to do any no more and give up, so I started to look for something else a little easier and discovered Podrunners Begintervals. :D

So starting from scratch today I have done Begintervals Week 1 Run 1, I have a huge uphill battle on the first walking section, so missed a bit of the first run however I did an extra run at the end as I totally misunderstood the beeps which I now know was meant to be a step down in walking pace.

Had to laugh when I was on the second running section I met a guy running towards me and clearly there was going to be a point when our paths would cross, so there was me desperately trying to compose myself and make it look casual, like I had been running for miles every day.

I'm never quite sure of the etiquette, smile and wave or look at the floor but he smiled and gave me the hello nod. That small nod felt good, like I had joined some club and was at least considered to be a fellow runner.

I can feel my calf has seized up a bit, so I think a soak in the bath is now needed.

Right oh, I'll head off back to page 8 for some catching up on this thread.

    Right, daft question time.

I've been doing the whole C 2 5k thing outdoors so far. I'm planning on going to the gym on Saturday morning, which is when I was going to be doing week 3 day 3. Do you think it will count, so to speak, if I do it on a treadmill? I know I can run twice as long on the treadmill as I can outdoors so I've got it in my head that it won't really count as it won't be as challenging.

    What do you guys think?

Well sorry to say I haven't managed a run this week either, good grief! Work has been manic and now I have family staying for a few days so will be back on track next week fingers crossed!

Pink, sorry to hear your sad news but well done to you and DD, sterling effort and i am confident it will do us all good in the end!

Well done to everyone else, keep up the good work!

  • Hello!

Well I started the C25K by using an app on my phone. This one is an 8 week programme and I got all the way up to week 6!!! I was running for 18 mins straight earlier this year!

But then I had issues at home which meant I stopped and then I stopped going to the gym as the I just didn't have the energy to be around people. I was out of contract so I cancelled my membership.

So about 6/8 weeks ago I noticed that my clothes were getting seriously tight and that I realised I missed the exercise so after doing a bit of research I bought myself a treadmill!

Unfortunatly I'm not in an area where I can run outside.

This morning was my first attempt at the programme again! I decided to start at week 2 run 3 to see how that felt and it was good! I also gave up smoking in March so my breathing was a lot better as well.

Will try week 3 next week and hopefully it won't be long before I've built myself back up again!!

Will post here occasionally if people don't mind?

Keen as a keen thing today, I have been out and had my feet measured and got myself some proper running shoes. Couldn't wait to get them on my feet and out the door again asap, so here I am with a well deserved cup of tea and a biscuit after having road tested them on Begintervals 2. :T

I decided to skip over the second and third attempt at Begintervals 1 and crack on to do Begintervals 2, since it was a similar routine of three x 1 minute 'sprints' and I had chosen a flatter route than I did on Thursday.

I am planning to move up to No.3 on Tuesday, although at present this seems too far away. If I could magically find a spare half an hour on Monday I would do it then but not likely.

We are going to do w4 run 2 today. The heat has been zapping the life out of our legs in the last few runs but we have finished them. We also find we recover in minutes now rather than half hour :D

Welcome to the new comers and well done kiwi, iamshopping bunny and 1940s gal :j

Eyeore make next week your week. Deligate a task to free up sometime maybe? Remember to look after yourself x

I don't see anything wrong with using a treadmill. It is about being active, I hope it went well :)
