I've got a 5k run this sunday, will let you know how it goes.

Well done everyone though, it's a good thing to do and not easy when your not used to it.

Well I started today, and it wasn't as bad as I expected! I need to find a slightly longer route as I was back at my house after 23mins. I didn't want to go past my house as by then it was pouring down. I was very pleased that I went out in the rain!

Bit annoyed cos I'm not able to purchase the C25K app for my Android phone. The payment goes through but then gets rejected, but my CC deny there is an issue with it. So at the moment I'm just using the free one, which is ok but I can't use any other apps on my phone at the same time.

Hello all. This is my first proper post as I am normally a lurker only (mainly due to time commitments) but as I am on holiday I thought I would like to be a part of this really motivating group! I started c25k last Tuesday and have done 2/3 of the weekly workouts so far and what I'm finding is that after a few days I am already feeling bad if I've not done a running session or some other form of exercise and this is from someone who is usually really lazy! Can people tell me if they do a weights programme alongside this? I am desperate to lose weight and tone up but haven't a clue which weights to do in the gym on my non run days. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I have a full body strength training routine that I have done in the past that really does help. It's about 30-45 minutes but you can tailor it according to how many reps you do. Will find the link to it later when I'm at home.

I'm back on board, going for the first run tonight. Quite looking forward to it really!:j

Just discovered this thread so thought I'd say hi :)

I've been doing the C25K for the past few weeks using the Active.com app on my Android phone. I love it as it means I can just concentrate on running (or let my mind wander depending on my mood!) and the app will tell me when to walk/run. I'm on Week 3 now and feel like I'm progressing well :) It's so motivating to tick off your progress through the weeks too and know that I'll be able to run a 5K at the end of it!!

BTW in terms of strength training I do a Body Pump class at my gym once a week, definitely important to include it in your exercise routine. Build more muscle then burn more calories when you workout! :)

Beki, thanks for that I am a member of a gym that does bodypump/pump fx so will have a go. Are you still able to do your run the day after though? I have visions of being too achy to be able to manage!

@garlicko glad to help! I am usually a bit achey the day after but I take that as a sign that it's working!

If you're too sore to run, then take the next day as a REST or cross-training day and then do your run the following day. You can tailor the weights to your capabilities during the class though, and make sure to increase them slowly so hopefully you will get used to the effort gradually :)

Yay I have progressed to Week 2, and managed to jog for all of the runs in full apart from the last one, where I had to take a 10second pause after a minute :) pleased with that.

    Is anyone currently doing this?

We started it today, myself and my DD2 age 16. Would be great if others were doing it as well :)
