How exciting - I briefly started this a little while ago and now I've signed up to MSE I see there is a thread dedicated to C25K running!
I'm looking to start this week from the very beginning... I sometimes suffer with an achey knee so going to take it easy.. have read a few pages back and see the tips tend to be to start off slow, so I think I will follow that advice and ease myself in gently! Back to work tomorrow which usually signals loads of stress and lots of working in the evening but if I manage to get out for a run I will post on here and let you all know!
Looking forward to reaching my goal of 5k in 2012!

Ok.... I confess. I haven't done a day yet!! But it's been god awful out there... pitch black, raining, windy... how do you lot cope!
Still, free use of school gym tomorrow so will give it a bash. Do you lot tend to prefer morning or evening runs? What about hills? That sounds like such a silly Q looking back.. but that's usually the problem... I just see a hill and I get stitch!

I must confess, I've not run since Xmas Eve, and I'm starting to get a bit worried about how bad it's going to feel (I'm not a beginner any more, but it's still scary)
I like evening runs for being easy to get out of the house - I'm usually stressed and desperate to get out! But a morning run does put a bit of a sparkle on the day if you can shoehorn yourself out of the house. Hills, just slow down. Don't stop, whatever you do, just go slower and slower til you find a speed that is ok for you. If that's slower than walking, fine. It's harder work than walkingAnd remember that every hill has a top, and at the top, you get a rest. When you are a super runner, then you can sprint up hills
It's hard to get started, but oh so worth it when you finish your first 5k run.0 -
Thank you for your top tips!
I'm determined this week, if not the weekend. My pact to myself is to have done 3 x exercise each week by Sunday - if I haven't, then Saturday and Sunday are busy days for me!
I will try the first run/walk on the treadmill in the gym tomorrow since it's such an awful week weather wise, then maybe brave the elements at the weekend. Good luck when you get out there... it's fitting it in to the routine that's the trickiest part I think!!

Hello All.
I did the C25K last year and thoroughly enjoyed it but then was lured away from running by other lovely classes. However, as the OH is going to start up again and the fact that I really need to do more for charity (running in charity races is a good way to combine exercise and charity and my KPIs for work) I thought I'd best get back on board. I don't need to start at week one though - might have a quick run after Attack tomorrow to guage where I am and go from there.
Happy running everyone - although not in this wind or you'll get blown away. How long til pay day?

Think this thread is still going, although I haven't posted for ages.
Re-started the programme with OH, but his aches and pains got in the way, and we stopped to let him recover. Need to start again, on my own if I have to, but want to help him out too. I will have to sort out some kind of system of longer runs for me, and shorter ones with him.
Must make a start again this week!Need to lose 23lb, but need help!:( DFW Weightwatcher: 5lb/26lbDecluttered in Feb - 49/100, Mar - 82/100

Ahhh just reading through this thread, seems to have gone a bit quiet since January though which is a shame as it looked very supportive!!
Personally I downloaded the iphone app for c35K and started it last October however I got to the end of week 2 and my gym went bankrupt and unfortunatly its not really safe for a girl to be out running by themselves in my area!
I've recently joined another gym after my few months break and noted that I've put some weight on and I've started again! I'm doing week 2 run 1 tonight and hopefully it will get easier and easier.
However I note read back through the thread that some of you mention that your programmes go up to week 9. The iphone app I have only goes up to week 8, so whether they are trying to push me further than other programmes I'm not sure, but I'm determined to give it a go!!!0
